The top 5 players you look for in a field before watching the event. Sometimes those 5 determine whether or not you'll be watching the tournament.

Mike Weir

Phil Mickelson

Tiger Woods

Fred Couples

Sergio Garcia

That's a very good question because I cannot come up with 5 players.
A few of my favorites have slipped a little like V.J. Singh, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Couples, Davis Love; they just don't have the mojo anymore.

Geoff Ogilvy I like to watch
Bubba Watson is fun

I always end up with some free time on Saturday and Sunday so I watch some of just about every tournament.
I don't care if Tiger is in the field because, well, I'm getting sort of bored with his greatness.
I want to see some competition.

The guys I really root for are not generally on the "telly" on weekends: Fred Couples, Steve Elkington, Joe Ogilvie, Jerry Kelly, Tommy Armour III

Best, Mike Elzey

1. Geoff Ogilvy (my favorite golfer)
2. Phil Mickelson (always makes it close)
3. Tiger Woods (all-time best golfer in my opinion)
4. Sergio Garcia (tanks his drives, plus it's fun watching him get frustrated by his putting)
5. Luke Donald (smoothest swing, and he's got my first name )

I'm so addicted to golf that I could care less who is in the field. There are so many players to learn from: Kenny Perry proving that consistency will provide you with a lucrative career, Jerry Kelly and his humor, Mike Weir always playing to his strengths. If I only had to choose five, it would be:

Woody Austin
Boo Weekley
Paul Casey
KJ Choi
Phil Mickelson
