Does anyone know the distance between a 2 hybrid and an equal fairway wood? I am trying to figure out if I should get a 2 hybrid or just go with a wood. Thanks.

If they are both the same degree and shaft, you should get the same distance. What degree is the 2H you are looking at?

A 2h is generally about the same as a 5 wood. However, it is better to look at the lofts. Normally if a fairway wood and a hybrid have the same loft, the wood goes further, so look at the lofts on the clubs.

a wood with same loft as a hybrid will typically go farther because it has a longer shaft in it, but a shorter shaft usually leads to better struck shots which also leads to distance. best thing to do is go somewhere where you can try same make/shaft combo in a wood and hybrid in the same loft.

They all vary depending on the degrees on the club. It seems that most 3s are 21 degees. I find these overlap with my 3 iron.

Here is a compromise you might like - Nickent 3DX Utility - a cross between a hybrid and a fairway wood. If you get them, don't get a 3 & 4 - get a 3 & 5. The Three is 15 degrees (much stronger - same as a 3 wood), and the 5 wood is 19 degrees.

They may be a little shorter than a fairway wood, but this is more than offset by greater accuracy. They have a shorter shaft. I hit the 3 215 when I hit it well. They also check up on the green.

I'll soon be adding my first hybrid to my bag.

I'm thinking strongly of going with a 2H as well.

I'll play a driver, 3W and then 2H and my exhisting irons.

This is correct. Usually a hybrid has a shorter shaft than a wood with the equivalent loft and will go a somewhat shorter distance.

The relatively shorter distance is made up for many of us by 1) the greater ease in striking the hybrid well and, 2) the greater accuracy one often enjoys with the hybrid compared to the fairway metal.

maybe a 2i 19* hybrid, and then a 15* 3-wood?

I have the same hybrids and couldn't agree with you more. I absolutely love my nickent's and haven't used my fairway woods since I've gotten them.

I was kind of on the same thought path but didn't know if I was right. Thanks everyone.
