Who cares....let the guy try it and try to emulate the best. Maybe he will figure it out.

The reason I say this is I can play a cut and I taught myself by watching Tiger and reading articles.

I say if they want to emulate Tiger JUST DO IT! Just don't stand out at the 225 yrd marker, after "cutting" your driver 250 into the right ruff, waiting for the green to clear. I will yell FORE if it gets close. (GRIN) Swing that 3 wood to the hilt!

I don't think there's any drawback.

I started playing when I was 11 or so. I sliced everything. Like most beginners, it was a natural move. I spent an entire season learning how to draw the ball. I had developed a prejudice against left to right shots that stayed with me a long, long time. I would drop my driver in horror if I faded/sliced one into the right rough even if the shot turned out well. Having heard talk about Tiger, Phil and everyone else on TV playing cuts, I changed. I started cutting my short irons about a month ago. (I used the method Jack Nicklaus describes so concisely) I get the shot higher, moving toward the flag and the ball stops. Maybe the talk will remind me of something else I know how to do.

If you want to emulate tiger, copy his fundementals and set-up positions. As far as shots and ballflights go, you cant do what he does.

Tiger may have made the cut too chik for its own good.

Like Jack Nicklaus before him? Or Lee Trevino? Most of the greatest players hit a cut. It's not a Tiger phenomenon.

When I first started, banana slices were my friend! Honestly - it was my go to shot for dog-leg rights off the front tees. What's wrong with that? Sure a bunch of them missed the fairway, but I was able to keep em in play because I felt comfortable with it when I absolutely needed to keep the ball NOT out of bounds ;)

Maybe you cannot do what he does but that doesnt mean someone else cant. That was a dumb statement. sorry to be an ass but if you watch how Tiger finishes with a draw or a fade you can learn a lot. I finish my "cut" like he does. He didnt invent the cut but since so much coverage is out on his swing and magazine articles constantly analyze it, you can learn a few things. Take the last Golf Digest magazine with Tiger on the cover in all black. He goes through some good points on draws, fades, rough shots and 3,5 woods.

I have "stole" a few things from pros when it comes to how I play. I agree on elumating setups and routines.

I think he meant that figuratively, not literally.

I think you should copy Tiger in as many things as you possibly can. Will you ever be as good as him? I doubt it. Will anyone, probably one day, but not for another 15-20 years.

I too copy a lot of things from Tiger. I have tried to replicate his swing as much as possible, but it's hard. He makes such an athletic move towards the ball. Pretty much, he's not human

You are being an ass. You cant do what he does, and i think trying to copy his dynamics and shots through your swing will just screw you up. I think its better to copy his fundementals and play with what you have.

LOL. I dont want to get into an argument with you at all. But I do copy certain points from Tiger during my swing and it has only helped. To each his own but your statement is wrong. Maybe its messes up YOUR swing. My natural ball flight is a draw. I can, however, fade my driver on command. Is it this exact same outcome as tiger?? No Way!!! Its not 330. It is however 280-290 and it cuts.

Golf is the one sport where you can acutally DO what a pro, even Tiger, does....Have you ever holes a pitch? Hit a massive drive? If you have, you have "done" what a pro has. If you want to play with words and super analyze it then ok, you cant consistently do what Tiger does, but you can techinally replicate a Tiger shot.

    • I've played the Tour in both white and yellow.  They play well and seem to hold up pretty good even when running into trees or cart paths.  Right now, I've been trying them against the Bridgestone Tour B RX ball and I really like both.  The Snell 3.0 looks to be a great update to the issues Snell was running into with the previous generation.

    • Not to take away from the OP's question but the Snell 3.0 is about all you could ask for in a ball. I'm not a paid spokesman and my opinion does not reflect on the owner of the site. Lexi Thompson could beat most people with a Top Flite, or a Nitro. Ben Griffin? He doesn't offer a lot of street cred so I'll pass. Now if Fat Perez or Heavy Ballesteros start using it then?????? 😀
    • Just read that Peter Oosterhuis passed away. He was the one and only celebrity I have asked for an autograph! In September 2007, I was in the Charlotte Airport awaiting a flight reading my October 2007 Golf Magazine. It was during the FedEx playoffs and Tiger had just won the previous tournament with the Tour Championship the next event. I watched the event listening to the dulcet tones of Peter Oosterhuis, among others. I opened the magazine, and started reading an article about Oosterhuis and the opening picture had him posing as James Bond in a movie’s opening sequence. I looked up from the article and he was sitting directly across from me!    I approached and showed him the article and asked if he would sign the photo. Mr. Oosterhuis asked “Are you keen on golf?” When I responded positively, we spoke for about 10 minutes discussing the fact that both Phil and Tiger had won FedEx events prior to the Tour Championship. He was very gracious and a wonderful storyteller. I was saddened by his battles with dementia and missed him on CBS’s telecasts.
