Last night's show was the whole "bikini/photo shoot" one. And that's it - the entire show was Natalie getting her pictures taken. Whoopty doo. I've never seen more boring "reality" since, well, since I woke up...

Yeah but it was great that her dad wasn't even shown once! That made the show great on its own!

Indeed, that made a big difference.

Her mom was there though. I thought that was good. I also saw the playing lessons episode with her and at that point I thought her dad was a bit out there. I think if she keeps hanging around butch he'll say look ditch the dad or find another instructor. It would be hard to have to cope with that all day long. I think she has potential to win but seems to lack the nerve to close the deal. She seems to make alot of mental errors under pressure. I'm sure she'll have her day though.

Is it me or did the cameraman, Golf Channel's, seem to be "editing" his own shots..like if you thought you were seeing some skin for too long he would pan away to something else..hmm..just seemed like it. Hopefully the show picks up a bit.

Less bikini, more action. I dare so nobody got to know anything at all about Natalie Gulbis in that episode, and it sure as heck had nothing to do with golf.

Tuesday, November 29 - Driving Lessons Natalie's father surprises her with a Dodge Viper and a few driving lessons. Plus, Natalie plays a pro-am round with Big Break III winner Danielle Aimee.

Not what I was looking forward to

I was hoping we were done with Danielle. Is there a more vacuous human on the face of the planet?

Last night's episode was actually the first I've watched. I didn't think it was too bad. I got to see Christie Kerr a little too, so that's never a bad thing.

And Erik, I actually thought about you when Danielle was shown last night. I knew you wouldn't be too thrilled.

My wife was cracking up when they were showing the practice round. I think my wife likes the show more than I do. That's good I guess. It's quality family time in the Thrasher household.

For the most part, however, the show was ok. It was nothing special, but it was better than anything else on tv. (the bball games weren't very exciting last night)

I'm with Erik, I was hoping BB was the last time we'd see Barbie again. Her appearance showed even more about how fake she is (physically and personality) That kinda ruined the show although her dad was kinda nice to Natalie and that was nice to see. Finally yes it was great seeing Christie Kerr too!!

I love Kristie Kerr. Good thing I watched last night.

Her learning to drive stick in a Viper was pretty funny too.

Great spirits will always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Aha! This

explains it :
For instance, the swimsuit photo session for her calendar took place in just a single day. The reality show -- an idea of her father's that was pitched to several networks before landing on TGC -- was nothing more than living out her regular routine, albeit with cameras filming every step. "It was really easy," Natalie said. "Nothing extra."

As if her dad could become more creepy, well, he has. He probably wanted to see himself on TV as much as anything.

And seriously, did he think any network OTHER than TGC would give a shit?

I have seen the show a few times, and surprisingly am finding her more attractive. I shouldn't say more, as I never thought she was attractive at all. But there is something about the lack of attractive women in sports that changes things when you actually see a decent looking one.

As for the show, it is still a bit boring. I would love to see it more golf centric. And as far as her father goes, well, most reality shows are produced to make people look a certain way. Simply put, it is better for TV when there are unappealling characters. So her father is made out to be a creepy, unkempt know it all with himself more in mind than his daughters.

But in this case, there is no doubt in my mind the producers have nothing to do with that. The guy is a white trash scum bag and I would bet dollars to doughnuts that his daughter would be much better off without him if his meal ticket sent him packing.

I think a reality show that would dive into a pro golfers life can be interesting if it shows behind the scenes activities related to golf, such as her training and preperation for an event or season in general. I find it interesting to see what work gets and keeps these professionals at the level they need to be to compete. Particularly this could have been interesting considering the level of success Natalie achieved this year. UNFORTUNATELY they chose to show absolutely meaningless garbage obviousley dreamed up by her father who looks like he crawled out from underneath a dark interstate overpass! More than once he has refered to Natalie not adhereing to his GOLF advise. What credentials does he bring to the table to qualify him as a golf instructor. Perhaps he should get together with Sean O'hair's father and nominate themselves for FATHER OF THE YEAR.....NOT!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that Natalie's father IS that way. A few random notes about last night's show, from what I can remember:
  1. It was awesome to see Paula Creamer step it up with the pressure on to roll a strike and a 9 (nearly another strike) while Natalie crumbled. Natalie's assessment of Paula's game as "pretty good" was pretty dumb given that Paula won four times (two LPGA) in her first year on Tour and Natalie has yet to win.
  2. What the hell was up with that drunk lady in the casino? She looked like she was trying to hit on The Scary One. Natalie looked completely annoyed and not like she was having fun at all. Why she doesn't tell the guy to shove off I'll never know - how hard is it to just play your own game at Blackjack?
  3. I'm glad it's over. I remember a lot more, but suffice to say, I hope there's no season two. I'd rather watch "Inside the LPGA Tour" than this crap.

I'm the opposite. I just watched it for the first time and used to think she was kinda cute but now think she looks like she landed face first in an empty pool. Personally, I think Paula looked better than Natalie on the show. But, compared to most on the LPGA tour they both look like supermodels

    • I can't say that I remember a lot of individual putts, but I do have one specific memory.  The first time I played the Old Course, I had hit a pretty good drive on the 6th hole.  I had about 60 yards left, and due to the swale in front of the green, there was no chance of flying a wedge on or near the green and having it stop on the green.  My caddie recommended either a running 7-iron chip or a putt, and I took the putter and a pretty hard swing.  The ball rolled over humps and through hollows, disappeared into the swale in front of the green, and re-appeared heading right at the hole.  I ended up maybe 12 feet away.  The caddie turned and held out his hand to shake mine, and said "Now THAT was a golf shot!"
    • For the first time since 2021, I made a 3 on the 12th at Stoneleigh.    395 yards, something like 80 feet uphill, I hit a solid drive and a 7-wood to inside a foot.  Even I couldn't miss that one.  I feel like I haven't played a lot of golf this year, but I'm making decent progress.
