Ever heard of, "snow golf"? Just because there is winter where you live, thats no reason not to play.

yes, its played around here occasionally. There are a few courses near me that are open all year round. Temps near zero degrees require a lot of clothing and it can be tough to swing

There is one course locally that have carts with "canopies" to block the wind and they also will rent out these mini kerosene heaters to keep inside of your cart. At least they used to. I could see that possibly going bad depending on how much drinking is going on!

I've played in January and February, with 20's temps. Not completely horrible. If you stayed in the cart, you were fine. Keep it in the fairway!!!

Too much clothing required though. I don't like swinging clubs with 2 or more layers on my upper body. Just doesn't work for me.

I live in Wisconsin, so I only have about 5 good months of golf throughout the year. I often wonder how good my game would be if I didn't have the layoff. How do you stay sharp if you can't golf year round where you live?

I'm fortunate that I can golf year-round here, however, I don't always do so.

I like to hunt in Oct-Dec too much. June, July and August....you'd better make a very early tee time or late afternoon.....forgetaboutit during the midday hours....it's sweltering....after warming up on the range and putting green you'll be sapped after nine holes...and that's if you ride!!!!

I'm an aussie so I can play every day of the year.

My biggest decision on a miserable winter day is having to decide whether or not I can still wear shorts or if I need the long pants!

I'm actually hoping to study abroad at the University of Auckland next year. How is the golf out there? The only course I know of is Cape Kidnappers, which looks absolutely amazing and I really hope to play at while there, but is like 6 hours away (and not to mention very expensive).

    • Day 116 12-6 Still working on getting to lead side. Tonight I also tried some skill work with clubface awareness.  Hit foam balls.
    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
