For those of you who take the LIRR to play Bethpage, on a lark, I tried walking from the station to the clubhouse today. It's not a bad walk - about 20-25 minutes - and it was pretty toasty out there today. I'd lighten my bag 2 or 3 pounds next time, but it's something I'll be trying more often.

For a perspective on the price, if you walk, and you already have an unlimited Metrocard, the cost to get to Bethpage is the same as it is to take the van to the range at Randall's Island.

Around what time did you get there? Which day of the week?

I tried it on a weekday, but it doesn't matter when you get there, the walk takes the same amount of time.

I really don't need to save money that badly, but it's another option that's available.

Most people are probably thinking, uh-huh, I'll take the cab, thank you.

How'd you do? What did you shoot? What was the condition of the course? I'm looking to play bethpage in a few weeks- to test my self against tough conditions. I've been getting a lot of birdies on my usual course... Cant wait to triple bogey bethpage!

Yeah, a lot of pressure. Rise above it. Harness in the good energy, block out the bad. Harness energy, block bad.
Feel the flow, Happy. It's circular. It's Like a carousel. You get on the horse. It goes up, down and around. Circular. Circle. With the music, the flow. All good things.I...

    • Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

    • Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.
    • I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
