I have a 21 deg Titleist 585H with Hybrid NV-R shaft. I want to get another 585H but deciding between the 19 deg. or 17 deg.

Most likely I'll use the 19 deg. or 17 deg. to tee of with on narrow holes. With that being said should I just get the 17 deg. then or 19 deg.?

How much of a yardage difference can I expect?

The distance gap will be dependant upon how far you actually hit the ball. The further you hit it, the bigger the gap will be. On average I think you'd be looking at about a 10 to 15 yard gap between the 21* and the 19*.

Something else you should be thinking about is which club you will be replacing from your current setup, that will likely influence your decision.

If your sig is right, you have no clubs between your driver and 21*, so I'd definitely recommend the 17* to give you better yardage gaps.

Well by next weekend I HOPE I'll be able to tell ya the yard difference between me hitting a 26* and 22* Nike CPR hybrids. The 22 should come in by Wednesday and then it's all a matter of getting away from work and the rain (eight days in a row now).

How about 906F4 18.5 deg?

I thought about the 906F4 but I think I'll be more consistent with the hybrid 585h.

I'd go for the 17*, you can always choke down the shaft to get the distance of a 19*. On a side note maverick I notice you play a 56, 58 and 60 wedge, just wondering why?

put a fairway wood in... you have no fairway wood, I'll sell you my launcher 19 degree... between th 17 and 19 degree I would like notice almost no difference... 5-8 yards if that... its more about trajectory. and yank one of those wedges... you basically are gonna hit a 58 degree about 10 yards less than your (56) wedge, and maybe 5 more than your 60 degree take it from a +4, who's becoming a pro soon... If you really have indecision get both... IMHO... I would get the 19 but that's just me... what do I know I still carry a 2-iron.

Well, you might know this already but fairway woods yield more distance compared to hybrid within the same loft.

I agree with onthehunt526. Having only 2 degrees difference between 17 and 19 hybrids do not give you significant options in long distances. In other words, it's like carrying extra club that has approximately the same distance. What I see from your sig is that you have a huge gap between your driver 10.5 and your hybrid 21 deg. Definitely put something in there, like 15 deg and 18 deg wood? If you want you could replace the 18 wood with 17 or 19 deg hybrid. Your 21 deg hybrid is okay, then the 4-AW irons set. Keep your 56 and 60 wedges, but not the 58. The setup will look like this. - Driver: 10.5 deg - Wood: 15 deg - Hybrids: 17 & 21 deg - Irons: 4-PW - Wedges: 52, 56 & 60 deg - Putter Total: 14 clubs. I know that everyone's different setup. At least this will give you the big picture. Hope this helps.

That's actually 15 clubs, but if you were gonna use that setup i'd pull out the 17* hybrid

Oh yeah, my bad. I was going to list some alternatives and in the midst of doing it I decided not to, so that left me with an extra club I forgot to de-list. Thanks for pointing that out.

    • Still working on getting to lead side. Tonight I also tried some skill work with clubface awareness.  Hit foam balls.
    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
