Top Mini Tours

Let's make a listing of the top mini tours in North America and how to qualify for them.

I'll start with the Canadien Tour. They have a Q School that runs in the winter (florida) and in the fall (canada).

As far as qualifying goes, the Canadian and Nationwide Tours, to my knowledge, are the only ones with a QSchool. The others you simple pay for an event and play.

In SoCal/AZ/NV we have a tour called the Pepsi Tour which has a Net Division. Maybe there's one in your area too?

when you play in a mini tour event, do you just pay the registration fee and you're in the tourni? or do you have a membership in a specific mini tour? how's that work

My club just hosted a Dakotas Tour event last weekend, it was pretty cool. A lot of younger guys who are just trying to get some experience and earn a few bucks along the way. One of them shot a 64 in the second (and final) round to break the course record, pretty impressive.

I can't say for sure, but I think you can just fork over the $500 and play. At that price for entry I'm sure the hacks are weeded out from the start. Our payout was $10k guaranteed, which from what I'm told is pretty good for that tour.

I noticed on the link of mini tours that there is one called the Sand Trap Tour, Erik you didn't go off and start your own tour ala Vince McMahon (XFL) did you?

There is an annual membership to be paid, but you can use winnings to pay them off. With membership you get discounted rates for the events.

what do you think of the Pepsi Tour or the Golden State Tour, i'm thinking on playing these, i'm from Utah so i need a tour close by.

there both good. Its kind of a crap shoot with mini tours tho. You get some really good golfers who come and shoot the lights out for pennies, so its a tough go. Its great for your game tho and if you are serious about it, it will help to push your game under pressure situations.
