The ignorance of that assertion is truely mindblowing

sorry if my post sounded all negative like i didn't have any appreciation for the open. for one, i love that old bat on the first hole who announces all the golfers and makes a big spectacle, as the t.v. announcers often point out, doesn't urinate all day so he's always at the ready. late in the day i'm looking at him and thinking, "bro, i feel your pain" as his bladder is ready to burst. that guy is a class act.

They will beat their swords into golf clubs and their spears into putters. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Old Tom Morris 2:4

You don't really like golf, do you?

Come on now, don't be shy: tell us the truth...

not a big fan of the british open, i think the courses rival any muni course here in the states with their hard pan fairways and greens. the ocean and seaside courses are a plus plus but golf in scotland is falling behind the evolution of the game. donald trump (of scottish descent) is making a bid to return the game to its greatness there but so far his efforts are being blocked by puny minded enviros despite the mandate of the people that he succeed.

I've had the opportunity to play 35 courses in Scotland over the last 10 years. From the goat trails to the high-end, members only privates; by myself and with tours that I have orgainzed for juniors and friends. If you are honest with yourself and accept golf for what it gives you, you can enjoy it no matter what the conditions or the weather (hmmmm, sometimes the weather has been damnable... and the wind frustrating, e.g., going out in 41 and coming back in at 66 at Royal Dornoch

). What makes it grand are the stories, the one or two shots that made it all worthwhile; or, the time spent in the company of golfers with the same desires only with different accents and a thirst for more pints than I dare think of holding. Scotland hasn't fallen behind the evolution of the game. Witness the new Castle course outside St. Andrews (a David McLay Kidd design). http://www.dmkgolfdesign.com/ What a visually stunning course. I was over there a couple week's ago as it was opening for public play and, except for the rain and the $240 cost, would have stood in line to play. I think Kidd's style now is head and shoulders above what Trump is proposing to "bring the game back to greatness." But then, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Bringing the game back to greatness would be to make it affordable. The obscenity is the cost of golf. At Trump's Intl. Golf Links Scotland, you'll pay dearly for the privilege to play. But, that is a bit off the topic. Cheers!
