I'm wondering a few things about wedge bounce.

Let's say, 14* bounce. Would that be hard to hit from the fairway?

The more bounce it has, the easier it is to get out of the bunker, right? But doesn't that make it harder to hit from other places?
Shopping for wedges for my dad's bday, and IDK much about bounce. I just get the traditional 8*-12* all the time, and am not good enough to tell a difference.
Thanks

From the fairway I usually like a little less bounce angle than the typical sand wedge. My sig shows what combos I use. The less the bounce, usually the easier they are to hit from tighter lies.

This also explains a little more: http://www.golfbidder.co.uk/Golf_Club_Bounce_angle.htm

If you carry a wedge with high bounce, forward press your hands a little more on your full fairway shots. It delofts the club but also takes off bounce.

That's exactly what I do. Well I forward press everything, but that's another issue....

Try cleveland 588 DSG wedges. Because of the "dynamic sole grind" they play like a bounce wedge or a standard bite wedge when you want them to.

He just got the Vokeys, he is not going to change now.

i would get a higher bounce wedge for your bunker/around the greens club and a lower bounce wedge for your 75-120 yard shots.

Obviously, it depends on course conditions. Generally, 14 degrees is going to be fine out of the fairway, great out of the rough, and good in most cases chipping out of the fairway.

Also, if you carry a 60, you can get it with less bounce so that you have a variety.

Stan Utley can hit his 58.12 from pavement just fine. High bounce isn't normally a bad thing - we don't often play super-tight, super-firm golf courses.
