I played the first time last year and will play again this year. Our team went from worst to second (to a team that's moving up to the next level next year).

Oh, I played competitive roller hockey in college and have always loved the game (along with soccer) - last year was the first time I even knew Erie had this massive adult league in which you can play.

I played for 7 years, since I was 8. It was A LOT of fun.

I'm from Alaska, also stereotyped as hockey players.

And ALSO like you I am finishing up my 13th year of playing soccer, and 5 years of that has been competitive.

Here's what I play:

Been playing since I was 7 (I'm 25 now). Ice hockey that is. Grew up in So Cal and played club, juniors, and college for Syracuse NY.

I still play every Sunday in a beer league. Its pretty competative cuz there are 5 differnent divisions so it's a good skate.

I love Sundays....

I am a goaltender and play ice hockey and ball hockey. Currently, we are in the playoffs in our ball hockey leauge. We lost last nite, 3-2 and our series is tied 3-3 now. Game 7 winner goes to the finals. We are the underdogs for sure and everyone thought we would have gotten blown out in 4 games but thats not the case.

ps. It helps that most of the other team has their best players playing in the Nationals out in BC this week.

Yep, played all the way through college. Last game I played was in 1996 in Raleigh, NC in a senior league. Got my teeth knocked out for the 3rd time and called it quits. That's when I started taking golf a little more seriously.

Since coming out of retirement at age 28...

I play every Monday with the same Men's league team for the last 9 years.

If only winning draws had some correlation with better putting.

I've been playing since I was 5 (17 now), but I don't know how much longer I can stick with it. I got in a pretty serious car accident last summer and now I'm not nearly as good as I was.

I helped coach the girl's team at my school last year, and halfway through their season thought my legs were strong enough to play for the Varsity team. I had played the year before so the coach let me back on the team. It didn't turn out so well, and I saw maybe 4 minutes of ice per game. I think it would be a shame not to play for one last year though.

I played hockey up until about the time I got married (at age 32...I'm 42 now). Was always a defenseman, but sometimes during the summer leagues when not a lot of people played, I'd have fun and me and the goalie would switch for the season. I think I'm a closet net minder; I loved it. Maybe it was the change of pace or whatever. I know my PIM's went down DRASTICALLY!!

Only reason I quit was because it was getting too hard on my body. Not the physical play, but around my area...only way to put this is men's leagues get screwed. Many late night games. And honestly, while I could live on 3-4 hours of sleep in my 20's, the older I got the harder that became. I'd get home anywhere around midnight or 1:00 AM, and for those of you who played...you know you have the huge adrenaline rush from playing. I wouldn't fall asleep until 3:00-4:00 AM. And getting up for work....wow. Sucks getting old.

I do miss playing.

Funny that I just read this, because adult leagues start down here next month and I was thinking of joining. I need the exercise. I grew up playing ice, but its been over 10 years since ive been in a league. I think most of my old equipment still fits, or at least I hope it does.

On a somewhat related note, my men's league (it's actually coed) team is always on the lookout for new players.

No checking, but definitely some contact.

Anyone in the NYC area looking to play regularly?

We play at Chelsea Piers, in division 3b. Usually on Monday nights.

Send me a PM if interested.

Thanks,

Wellington

O cool a guy at my work plays ball hockey and he just got back from BC from the tourney there. He plays for are provincial team, the national team took note of him cuz of his outstanding play. If you looked at this guy he looks like he would never be able to play hockey, but he's an amazing ball hockey player.

I heard the tournament was good. Team NB lost all their games but they were competitive and had a blast. At least the Montreal Red Light didn't win, I think they won the last 7 years in a row.

PS. We lost in game 7 the other night :(

    • Day 87 (27 Jul 25) - Made it an easy session with the wedge this afternoon, worked on staying in the shot and not lifting out - split between low spinners and higher floaters.
    • Shot my new low 72 (par 70) today. Had 5 birdies, also a new best, which included a hole out from the bunker on par 3 6th, and another hole out pitch from 15ish yards on the long par 4, 15th.  Got a couple of other good breaks. Except for an OB drive on 14th (and ensuing double bogey), not much went wrong. All in all I might have used up a year's worth of luck in a single day.
    • Back in the saddle after vacation.  Day 1: played 18. Did not have it, but still battled to an 82. Felt closer to a 90, but that’s fine.
    • Yes, I have seen this from the older crowd that play the 4,700 yard tees and want to know why they get less strokes from there. Always trying to game the system 🤣
    • Day 300 - 2025-07-27 Good 44-ball segment. GSPro was acting goofy, so I just put it on the Quad. Then I hit a bunch of low spinners. Hit 14° down to 9.8° down, with the average closer to 12.3° or so. Focused mostly on the backswing. Right knee good, hands roll up and out a little before laying off (FAR).
