Does anyone else suffer from the same ailment that I do?
Left to right is so ugly to me.
I try to fight it and then the ball just goes more and more right.

I used to hate my left to right ball flight. Then I started to draw the ball and I realized that I was so used to taking the left side of the fairway out that I had no idea what I was doing with the draw. I am very happy with my fade and I wouldnt want any other ball flight. Are you slicing or fading the ball, there is a huge difference. Is your problem with all your clubs just irons, or just woods?

Honestly, I'm glad I do have a ball flight.

A lot of people don't have a consistent one and are all over the place. I can hit fairways all day, I just don't like it. "They don't paint pictures on the scorecard" is the line I hear all day. It's my woods. I can shape everything with my irons, but I have one ball flight with my woods, the 5-10 yard cut.

I used to hit the ball very high - when I first started, I thought the higher, the better. Eventually, I lowered my ball flight, delofting the clubface at impact as I improve. I still have a naturally high ball flight though. I can hit the draw or fade equally well - sometimes I just don't know which one will result though.

I have found that I hit that "bleeder" off to the right if I don't finish my swing. Release your hands, and let the club wip thru impact.

Remember what Dr. Dirt always says... "Swing hard in case you hit it!"

I currently hit a Very very high slight fade.

I do not like it at all. I don't mind the very high part, but I don't like the fade. I started doing a little bit of outside-in on my downswing. I can't adjust to it yet, and haven't hit as many GIR's as i'd like.

That may be a product of your grip. It's it's too weak, you can have a real high fade. I mean, most of the time it's swing path and other issues, but I had my grip too weak, and I was ballooning the ball with a high fade, and losing about 30 yards on each club, not even joking. I used to hit my 7 iron 125 yards (I know, it was pathetic, which I knew something was wrong...) and now I hit it 150.

That could be the case, But I'm not losing any distance, I can hit my 7i as high as someones PW and still get it to about 165-170. Distance is not a problem at all, I just hit it really high.

I can see in my divots though they are going left.

Oh yeah, then that's just cutting across it with an open face...just work on keeping that right elbow tucking into your 'pocket' on your downswing.

All you need to do is sing inside to out wich promotes a better realese throught the ball, a faster swing speed because you naturally turn your wrists over, and a slight draw.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
