Every time i take a break and start playing again i get blisters in the standard spots (normally left hand for me). I try to go easy on them the next couple of days and no more blisters for me the whole time...

If i go on golf vacation without playing much before i always "blister" myself up a couple of days ago hitting balls somewhere just to get it over with and have a blister/painfree vacation.

I've never gotten blisters, but I do have a callous on my right ring finger. When I first started playing, I would grip the club too tightly & that would wreak havoc on my hands. That might be your problem & it also might be related to the actual grips on your clubs--if they are worn, you'll likely grip the club tighter--if they are cords, it just may take some time to get used to them. Take it easy for a bit & as you play more, your hands will likely adjust. --LBB

You can plug up the sink (or get a bucket) and pee in it. Then soak your hands in it for a good 10 minutes. It sounds really gross but the minerals in the urine will get into your skin and really toughen it up. A fair amount of baseball players do this, especially in 3rd world countries where batting gloves are difficult to come by.

your grip might be too tight, grip loose like you are holding a tube of tooth paste with the cap open.

right hand pressure
ring and middle fingers

keep it loose and you should not wear a hole in your glove

Yes what he said, but i also get blisters sometimes to, but not sense i gripped looser

Its not always how you drive the ball, but how it arrives.

For some other sports that involve a lot of friction on the hands (eg. windsurfing) I've made a makeshift protection bandage from duct tape. But it is essential to cut an additional small patch out out and stick it, smooth side up against the sticky part, where it will make contact with the blistered area, other wise you will have a sticky part agains the blistered skin and the results will not be very pleasant.

My right hand thumb-to-index finger has some decent club grip burn on it today, but it's a pleasant reminder of the last two days golfing.

your grip is too strong... this is a quick fix to play with blisters (you can put on before playing or after getting the blister.) medical adhesive tape. its the one that looks tan on both sides. tape look like its about 1mm thick and can strech. i've used it before and it helps a lot.

Not, blisters, but I cant anymore because callouses cover my hands and theres no room for blisters

I can count over 20 callouses on my hands, some small and some painful. But I have to tape my right and left ring finger when I play or they get very sore.

I have to cut them off every now and then, too.

So it looks like your options are either to loosen your grip or soak your hands in piss.
I’d have to say that I'd quit the game before resorting to wetting my hands with urine, even if it were my own. Seems… drastic.
Use waterproof first-aid tape to cover the blisters. And never urinate on blistered hands.

Regular band aids have a soft spot "built-in" the pad area (to soak up bodily fluids from the wound). 3M makes Nextcare(TM) brand which has extra "foamy" and soft material as the backing. (Disclaimer - I work for 3M). If you have access to a surgical supplies vendor, even better is Microfoam (TM) tape which is even thicker and softer, with no "pad". But the adhesive is for skin (like band aide types) and thus does not do any damage upon removal.

I use a band-aid everytime I play now. Just hurts too badly without. It's on the finger I interlock with on my RIGHT hand. Next to the pinky!

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
