No, but I have skimmed my face. Full swing from 20 yards away from a tree, May have got the direction a bit off? Smashed into the tree and almost takes my head off. I have no doubt that was coming at me hard enough to cause a serious injury. I feel lucky.

I was teeing off at my old home course, where the men's and women's tees are on the same teeing area on one of the holes. I hit a worm-burner that hit the women's tees, shot over my head and went backwards into the preceding hole's fairway. I had a minus-50-yard drive on that hole. (g)

Also took a friend of mine to the driving range at that same course -- he had never played golf before -- and he laser-sliced a drive into one of the trees lining the range, and it stuck in the tree. The tree had been hit by lightning and was a little rotten, and he plugged the ball into the tree about 20 feet up the trunk.

I'd say a skim on the face is a hit,...

that's awesome, I'd wear that like a badge of honor,...

No, but I was thinking about this thread on Thursday. I hit my ball right behind a grouping of three trees and had to hit my next shot up hill between an opening 2 feet wide 5 feet in front of me. I was still 140 or so out and had to hit it hard to get it to the green. I didn't hit it well but I made it through the gap and left it 10 yards short of the green.

I have had the great opportunity to hit myself twice, As a Kid my friends and I swam for balls at the Mauna Kea in Hawaii. We would get hundreds each time, Then take them back to my house and hit them over the pond that happened to be lined with lava rocks. Of course when your 15 years old, you have not learned the meaning of the word consequence. I teed the ball up about about 5 feet away from the rocks that were right in front of me, We had hit plenty over the rocks in the past. In an instant I learned what happens on a low shot. The ball hit me square in the eye, The pain was like nothing I have ever experienced. I truly thought I lost me eye, It took about 5-10 minutes before I could see again. After that we turned around and hit them into the pasture and aimed for the cows. That lasted until we finally hit one and felt terrible.

My next incident happened in Spain, I had gone there to spend the weekend with a new girlfriend and her family who are avid golfers, We were in a club tournament, On the first hole, I topped the ball and it ended up short of the fairway on an upward lie DEEP in clover grass, I thought nothing of it, Clover is pretty soft, I gave a mighty swing and that ball jumped straight up and hit me square in the nose, I had a decent amount of blood running down my face before I made it back to the cart. I wish I could say the day got better, it didn't I ended up shooting a 142. She and I didn't speak about that day much, All around it was pretty damaging.

Was playing in a foursom and was about 220 yards from the tee with one of my group was about to hit his second. A ball came flying, hit the ground behind me, bounced and hit me in the back. There were 2 teenagers on the tee box laughing. It took self-control not to go back and and have strong words plus with them. Instead one of friends called the pro shop on his cell phone. By the time we were on the green they arrived. Waved for us to go back to them. We explained what happened. The teenagers were asked to leave and never return.

    • Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.
    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
