I am talking about the small box not just a brush. To clean the face I have to bend the shaft a bit always being careful of not doing it too hard.

But,

lately I have been hitting my pw and 9 iron almost the same and the worse is that it is only a few yards more than my 54 degree.

I have a huge gap to my 8, so I am thinking it is the loft.

what is a normal price for checking the lofts??

Edwin Watts near me in FL will bend clubs for free if I bought them there. If not, they will check them free. Bend them for a few bucks. Dicks Sporting goods charges I think $5 per club.

Thanks.

For some reason I thought it would be more expensive.

When you get them checked, be sure to describe how you clean them because it could actually be a bent shaft. Take a close look at your ferrules to see if there is any gap between the bottom of the ferrule and the top of the hosel--this could indicate a bent shaft or hosel. --LBB

Using the cleaning brush, you would bend the shaft long before you changed the loft on the clubhead.

Not to mention when you strike the ground after a shot you are probably using a lot more force.

I tend to agree with these statements. I just can't see how you'd impart enough force to actually bend the lie by cleaning.

Yeah.... you'd not only bend the shaft, you'd break it before you bent the clubhead at the hosel.

I've hit the ground lots of times, not to talk about the plastic mats at the range. I doubt such a small force will be able to bend the clubhead.

The easiest way to find out is by getting them checked.

Has anyone in here ever experienced this?

I echo the comments of the others. The force you'd have to impart on the shaft/head is no where near enough to bend either the clubhead or the shaft. You'd have to be putting just about all your weight on the club while washing it to do something. So unless your clubs are extremely dirty I don't think it's affecting it.

If you don't already have one, get a towel for your cart or bag. Before you start the round, find some water and make it nice and wet. Makes cleaning the clubs much easier. Clean every club after each usage and you'll hardly need to clean them at all after the round.
