Hey Guys,

After everyone's input and help, I finally stepped up and got the MP-52s. I was looking at the 57s, but heard a lot of great things about the 52s. They are supposed to be Mizuno's best selling iron ever per Mizuno Corp Execs. Of course they could just be saying that to sell more...

For some reason, I thought the feel was amazing, but felt a little better than the 57s. Maybe because it's a little more forgiving. With everyone's feedback, I also had the Project X 5.5s put in. I can't wait for them to arrive.

Did anyone else here get them yet?

Thanks,
e

The O.C. salesmen for Mizuno are good guys, but I doubt MP-52s are the best selling ever, seeing as how they were just released. They might have set sales records for the first X many weeks on the market or whatever ("might" - I don't know if they did or didn't).

That having been said, I haven't hit the MP-52s, but if they're a step up from the MP-57s, you're going to be very happy.

Thanks Shindig. It was a hard toss up between the 57s and 52s, but I went with the one gave me a little more foregiveness. I'm not able to play as often as I like right now, so I definitely need all the help I can get. Thanks!

Hey Guys,

I actually also got the 52's based on info from this forum and online also in the Projectx 5.5

I love them. They give me a nice high trajectory for the short irons and the long irons have a nice penetrating trajectory... i just started playing two months ago and i had a really old set before so i didn't really have anything substantial to compare them to but i've been a golf freak lately clocking at least 5 hours a day so i've fallen in love with the irons while upping my game big time... didn't regret it and i'm sure you won't either..

You definitely have the bug. 5 hours/day. Dang. I don't even have that much time to sleep! Were you the one that posted a thread on the Mizunos before? That's the exact same specs I got too.

Roger Dunn didn't have the Project Xs in stock, so they special ordered them for me with the "Mizuno Blue" threaded grip. Can't wait, but it will be mid Nov! I only got 5-PW not because it's just cheaper, but I love my 3 & 4 TM Burner Hybrids. I was going to get rid of my 4, but almost had a hole in one with it (like 1 foot away). I can't get myself to replace it anymore. You said that you had an old set before hand. Ya, I think if you hit anything else, you'll notice how the feel is so nice in the Mizunos. Hit em straight! e

I am thinking about a new set in Spring - I am still not sure. I will watch the info the next couple of months about everyone's impressions.

@ erwintrace08 I can't wait to hear your review. We have similar handicaps and I was also thinking about the MP57. I also only carry 5-PW as I just love my rescue wood.

Hey Guys,

I hit the demo set that my club had and they are very nice, but didn't feel that much different from the mizunos I have or my dads mp-60s (both of which are also very nice). Nice bag by the way, thats like all brand new stuff.

Nice. I'll definitely let you guys know. I love the rescue clubs too even though they are not "as macho" as people with regular 3 & 4 irons..hehe. My buddy said I have more woods in my bag then his mom. I told him he's never shot a 79 before or got a hole in one.

I was really thinking about the 57s, but heard a lot of good things about the 52s. Mine are actually coming by mid-end of November with the custom blue Mizuno grips (reason why it's delayed due to back order on the grips...lol).

I heard the MP60s have been amazing, but I think that's too much club for me.

LOL. I know. I tell my wife I need new stuff because it will add yards and shave off strokes. I said the bag added 10 yards to my drive I've been playing about 2 years. I'm a gadget freak and golf equipment junkie. But I will settle into what I have, especially with the way the economy is...

George has a pair of MP-52s and I'm sure he'll have some comments - and a full review - at some point along the way.

Interested as well to here some reviews. I got the MP57's about a month ago and love them. Mizuno's MP line is pretty amazing. I debated between the 52's and 57's and went with the 57's cause I hit them real well when I demoed them and just love the look.

I am thinking about a new set in Spring - I am still not sure. I will watch the info the next couple of months about everyone's impressions.

I finally got my clubs. They were supposed to come with the tour velvet Blue grips but they're back ordered for 3 weeks so I went with the black. Just to let you know what I was hitting before, it was Ping G5s which are game improvement irons. I just went to the range today and were hitting them great. I LOVE THEM!!!

1) FEEL WOWOWOW! These are amazing. If you hit these clubs clean, it's like butter. Going with any other MP line, I'm not sure if it's a huge difference. At least the MP-52s still has forgiveness 2) MISHITS These bad boys really let you know when you are off vs. cavity-backs. Wow. I never had this with my cavity-backed Ping G5s. If I hit a bad shot with the Pings, it still is a decent shot. I actually love this. It really lets me know if I am not hitting a good shot and I can make a quick change/improvement. 3) LOOK Of course, an amazing looking club. Classic. Clean 4) PLAYABILITY This is very important. They aren't blades like the other MP lines, but you can really work these easily. I was truly amazed. Verdict- can't wait to get them out on the course. An AMAZING club! You guys will love it. Let me know if you have any questions. e

1) FEEL

Wow. Almost the opposite of my feelings. I thought they were a bit too clunky looking, the feel was pretty shoddy unless you absolutely found the dead sweet spot, and even then it wasn't typical "Mizuno" feel, but rather "okay, that was not bad." Forgiveness was "okay."

I'm reviewing the -62s and George has the -52s, but I really didn't care for the -52s myself. If the AP2 are the ultimate blend in forgiveness and feel, I think the MP-52s actually offer only a teeny bit more feel and less forgiveness.

If the AP2 are the ultimate blend in forgiveness

Does this mean you support the notion that the AP2's are the ultimate blend in forgiveness and feel or are you repeating Titleist's claim?

I look forward to the reviews on the MP 52 and the MP 62. I've been fitted for both (as well as the Ping S57 and the AP2) and am deciding which to order.

http://thesandtrap.com/clubs/titleis...2_irons_review I've played forged musclebacks for almost as long as I've been playing golf prior to switching to the AP2. I couldn't stand the r7 TP and didn't care for the CG Reds. No, I'm not just repeating their claim. I'm saying their claim matches my experience. This thread isn't about the AP2 - I was only mentioning them to compare them to the MP-52s I've hit - so let's not get off-topic.

I feel kind of bad now giving an actual "review" as I'm definitely not an expert compared to you guys..lol. I do appreciate Erik's feedback/honesty because it does give a different perspective that I could not give. That's what makes this forum great.

I honestly could not tell you if an AP2 or MP52 had a "tiny bit of feel/forgiveness." That is amazing and you have to be playing for a long time to notice that (wish I started playing this game when I was a kid...lol) Just to be clear in this thread for anyone that reads it, really consider that I'm a mid handicapper that has been playing for 2+ years. My review was based on moving up from G5s which I guess is a step up with a club like a AP2, MP, etc. A lot of us are really looking forward to George's review. I was just trying to give feedback to MPoster and the rest of the guys. I also don't want to down play my review/feedback, but I'm very happy with them. Thanks, e

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
