Congrats! I really love mine and have never met anyone that didn't love theirs. Time to practice with it!

Scotty aquired!

I am pumped about it, it feels so good, using the proV is a must now, theres no point to be hitting anything else with a scotty cameron.

i love both of my scotty's, they feel really good. i use a prov1 usually just cuz of the line on the ball

I am not going to be putting golf balls that are bricks with the scotty is what I meant.

Borf et al: What makes Scotty Cameron putters so great?? (Never tried one, but I'm intrigued.) Would I, an improving player that likes to work on my game--and I need a lot of work--appreciate the value of one? Would it help me? Why?

Dgolfer - The Scotty thing is for some and not for others. I bought one 7 or 8 years ago, had no business with a $300 putter, maybe I still don't... I love it though. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. It is really all about personal preference. Go play with one and figure it out for yourself, whether you would benefit from one or not. I love mine!

I will, fishinjdb. By the way, I see you are playing the Bridgestone e6. I played the e6+ most of the season. Great ball--much better feel than other balls I was playing in the past, and flight is excellent. So, I think I found the right ball. Now to find the right putter and improve there.

I love my Scotty Camerons! I seem to end up fishing around on ebay and Cameron Collector for ones I like there.

I have a little fun picking which of them I'll take out on the course, some of they I don't game at all but I like to keep a couple of the Tour ones amongst the gamers.

A Cameron might or might not help you. Putting has a lot to do with confidence and Camerons give some people that confidence.

There are plenty of putter makers that are just a good as Cameron. They just haven't marketed themselves like Cameron has. Cameron is at a point now where he could put out junk and people would buy it. Either way, Scotty's are great putters, but don't put off other smaller putter makers. They are as good and in some cases better (and in some cases worse).

So many great ones out there.

It's all about what works for you.

I'd never have bought my putter on my own, but it was a 40th birthday present from my wife and son. It's something I'll alway enjoy. The SC custom shop appeals to me....a place where I can restore / adjust / personalize my putter years down the road is a cool option.

I've bought and sold other used SC's just to tinker around with different styles....great thing about them is that if you shop right, you'll never loose any $$$ trying different ones.

Some of the real hard-core SC collectors would laugh at the "gamers" I've tried. They are well healed in the wallet and can afford to go after the elite stuff with high collector value. I suspect that if they weren't collecting these putters then they'd be collecting some other valuable that they enjoy.

    • Depends on my lie and the green I am working with. If I want to fly and stop, my 58* If I am looking for it to run a bit, my 54* And on occasion if the lie and green call for it, punch and run with my 7i
    • I did the RTJ trail, we just did Grand National and Capitol Hill. We were trying to minimize travel time. It gave us 5 courses to play. You pare playing 3 of the 5 we played.  If I had to pick, I would play the Lakes over the Links at Grand National. Links felt too penal on approach shots. If you can't get height or spin, it felt like every ball that hit the center of the green ran off the back. A lot of the greens require force carry, no running it up. It just wasn't that fun to play.   Judge - Really good course, some really cool holes and terrain.   Senator - Really fun open course. They call it link style, I can't remember how much you can play the ball down, but it has the aesthetic appeal.
    • I do that at the range; I just have been going through a half-assed pre-shot routine. 😇 I just kind of waltz up to the ball and hit it. I catch myself just going through the motions of aiming. Once I started aligning my club to an intermediate target, I felt like I was aligned way open to the target but just trusted it. Like, if the club was aimed at the flag in the middle of the green, then my body was aligned left of the green or more (assuming something like a 100+ yard shot). I think I was more concerned with where my feet were lined up and not the clubface.  A question on alignment then.  So, the ball is like what, 3-FT away from the toe target line. So, does that mean if my toe line is aimed at the flag, the club is aimed 3-ft right? Does the perception of the green looking smaller in the distance impact that in terms of how we hit the shot? I feel like the geometry should work that the ball is actually aimed 3-FT right.
