I currently hit a Titliest 983K that is a 9.5 loft and the shaft is a Titliest 4560 reg flex shaft. After few tips from a friend I can hit the driver pretty good. He has a 905R (I think a NV 65) and a 907 D2 w/v2 shaft (Oh he is a lefty) He said if I could a 905R with the 65 V2 that it would be perfect for me. Anyway seems like they are hard to find and was wondering if the V2 is a better shaft than the YS6 shaft that is made by Graphite design.

He says the V2 shaft is better than the NV 65.

Also just curious if I found just the V2 shaft at a good deal would it be an improvment in my 983K over my stock Titliest 4560 shaft.

Thanks for advice

The V2 works out okay for me. I don't have a clue whether or not it's "better" than brand x,y,z.....I just know that among the 2 custom shafts that I could select from with my woods....the V2 was best for me.

They make a wide range of weights and flexes within the V2 lineup.

My driver shaft is the V2 HL 65 stiff....works out very well. It's a much "whippier" shaft than I previously owned. Trajectories off the driver are much higher but still penetrate well. Carries over bunkers and waste areas are no longer a fear.

That being said....I'd not like the same shaft in a heavier version for my driver. It's fine in the woods and hybrid....but I'd not like it on the driver. I have a fairly slow transition at the backswing and don't pre-load the shaft much. My swing speed isn't all that fast either.

I agree with Dub about the v2. i also played the 65g highlaunch in a 9.5 905s. i loved it until i got a bit stronger, because once you reach a certain speed with the 65g HL, anything after that seems to be really whippy and being able to place drives in certain spots on the fairway becomes a bit harder. i would reccomend the v2 highlaunch to you but in something around a 72g if your swingspeed is around 100 and you really swing at drives. the other end of the equation is what ball flight you like. if u like a mid-high, penetraing ball flight, i would get the highlaunch. if you like a little bit lower ball flight then the v2 is pretty much the same shaft but with a lower flight and less torque.

Do you like Vanilla or Chocolate?

I just went through a bad shaft experience. I researched shafts a little and based on what I thought I needed didn't help me at all and maybe even made my driver less effective.

Hit them on the range and go with the one that feels and performs for your swing.

I have a driver swing speed of about 108 and a fast tempo, and like the V2 75g stiff shaft in my 907D2 driver, and can't see the YS6 (stiff) working for me. YMMV...

I do have the YS6 in my fairway woods, and it's OK there. Based on my experience with my fairway woods, the YS6 has a lower kick point/feels softer in the tip, and in my driver I'd be hitting the ball too high/spinning too much.

Exactly!

I have the YS-6 stiff shaft in my 983E driver and it is absolutly perfect for me. Even though I haven't tried other shafts with this head, I can't imagine anything that would perform better for me. I get plenty of distance and accuracy with it. In the spring, I got a 907 D2 with the same shaft thinking that the shaft just works for me. I don't know if it is the weight of the head, or drag, or some other factor but it didn't work for me in the 907. The launch was too high and the spin was too high. I got rid of it and went back to the 983. A friend used a 983K with the YS-6 and when he tried my 907 if performed better for him. Point being, try and demo different shafts and see what works best for you. No one can say which is the better shaft, it is all a matter of personal swing limitations and what you want the ball to do.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Exactly!

Can't comment on the V2 (a friend swears by it) but I also have a Titleist 983E with a YS-6+ stiff in it and I'll echo the above; it's an awesome combination for me. GD shafts are _very_ good. The Aldila NVs are good but stiffer to flex than the GD shafts. The V2 has made a lot of people happy though so I think the best thing you can do is to try them both on a range and with some launcher info.
