I
You're a 9 handicap and complaining of being short?
I think he meant short in stature, not the length he hits the golf ball. But hey, that won't necessarily hold you back. Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy are 5'8" to 5'9" and they can knock the ball out there a ways.

I think this must be a video game output. 161 yards on the last round average for a 9i seems a little high, and he only hit 3 clubs the last round other than the driver.

It is, I do have the paid membership but it does have a three round trial. Once you get it set up for the course your playing. It will have a small ball in the bottom right with a club. Push that icon before each shot an pick the club your about to use.

Sorry about that, I did not realize that you actually hit that far.

I just downloaded the app, looks pretty good.

Bingo! Thanks for clearing that up!

Does it take the distance from the swing or do you have yo drive/walk up to the ball to get the distance of it ?

Clubs are:

Driver - Yonex (can't remember model)

3 Wood - Callaway Diablo Octane

Hybrid - Taylormade Rocketballz Stage 2

Irons - Titleist  DCI 822-OS

LW - Vokey Spin Milled

Distances are about:

Driver: 240-300 (Very sporadic and I'm told the Yonex I use wouldn't conform to the latest tour guides. When it goes off the middle it goes miles)

3 Wood: 220-240

Hybrid: 200-220

4 Iron: 180-195

5 Iron: 170-185

6 Iron: 160-175

7 Iron: 150-165

8 Iron: 140-155

9 Iron: 130-145

PW: Depends on grip position - 80, 100, 125

SW: Depends on grip position - 10-80

LW - Anything, it does what it wants

Swing speed is in the 90's, or at least was showing that when doing relaxed swings with the Hybrid I bought recently.

Going by just the matching clubs in my bag, burner plus irons/wedges:

AW- ~130

PW- ~145

9i-    ~160

8i-    ~170

7i-    ~185

6i     ~195

5i     ~205

4i     ~215

These are rough estimate yardages based solely on on course play, though it is with using gps. These are subject to change with my swing changes I'm working on. Trying to shorten my backswing on irons and it may bring yardage down by 5-10 yards per club or it may stay the same. Normal, in the fairway, drives range from 260-280 with good drives hitting 290-300 and bad drives being 240-250 *all fairway only measurements*. I don't have any distances for my sw or lw because I try not to hit them full swing. I don't have any fw woods or hybrids either,

KICK THE FLIP!!

In the bag:
:srixon: Z355

:callaway: XR16 3 Wood
:tmade: Aeroburner 19* 3 hybrid
:ping: I e1 irons 4-PW
:vokey: SM5 50, 60
:wilsonstaff: Harmonized Sole Grind 56 and Windy City Putter

Not sure exactly mate, but I believe it's to something to do with the grooves or the size of the sweet spot on the driver.

The model is a yonex v-mass plus 400. Seems like the whole range of V-mass are listed as non-comforming on the list, but I don't exactly know why. My dad passed it on to me as he had to change it for this reason also.

It does go ridiculously far to be fair, so it's a laugh to play with, but it doesn't really work for me too well so will be looking to replace it soon anyway

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
