According to Truth and Rumors on Golf.com

John Daly was ordered this week to pay the nearly $272,000 in legal expenses for his unsuccessful defamation lawsuit against the Times-Union and its parent company. Daly sued Morris Publishing Company, the newspaper, Jacksonville.com and former columnist Mike Freeman for a 2005 column that accused the golfer of smacking women and a thug lifestyle. He turned down a $5,000 settlement proposal from the newspaper, a reasonable offer in light of the facts, Carithers said in his order.
Man that just sucks he has only made (not including endorsements)$250,658.61 this year; $12,096.00 on the PGA Tour and $238,562.61 on the European Tour.

I wish him well...but he is going to realize he has burned alot of bridges along the way.

I do know one thing...as much as I want the guy to do well, I had to delete him off my Twitter thingy. I just couldnt put up with 200 txt msg from him a day telling when/where/who/what he is doing

Isn't that the point of Twitter?

Oh, and I agree on the rest of your comment.

Ha, I completely understand that.

I have Ian Poulter and Daly. Poulter usually has some cool insight, Daly Tweets everything, as you say.

A few months ago, the lady in charge of putting together the Fort Smith Classic (Nationwide Tour tournament that was hear in town last weekend) came to my office trying to sell luxury box tickets to us (we've been a sponsor of the tournament for the past 10+ years). She used to be John Daly's manager and was telling us all the stories about his "issues". She said that he would run up a ton of gambling debts but then be able to pay them off by doing commercials for the casinos or making appearances for different charities/functions. She said that someone was always there willing to pay his way out of whatever jam he had gotten himself into. She did say that in person he's one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He just doesn't take everything seriously and acts like a little kid sometimes, ultimately getting himself in a lot of trouble.

Maybe now with his new manager/girlfriend she can reduce some of the self-inflicted damage.

John Daly is not doing too badly at the moment!...tied 27 th at the British Open and is playing the Canadian Open this week...and has started well (birdie, par). 155 k euros won on the european tour and nearly 60 k dollars earnt on the pga tour so far. I think he will do reasonably well this season and has done well on the euro tour with a tied second. What do you think the rest of the season holds for him?

I hope he continues his comeback. I want to be a fan. I really really want to.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
