About five years ago, my brother and I played the Ridge down at Lake of the Ozarks. It had rained the week before and then the day before we arrived.

The course was waterlogged, and several of the hillside bunkers had washed down into the flats. It was about 50*, but then it started drizzling again and dropped to 40*.

On the 17th tee, at the high point of the course, I set up for my tee shot. On the downswing, my left foot sinks 6 inches into the muddy tee box, and I smack my clubhead into the muddy turf and sprain my right wrist. Fortunately, my ball went high and straight for 100 yards, and was easy to find. (And fortunately, I didn't lose my shoe).

To this day, I'll continue a round if it starts raining along the way, but I prefer not to tee off on a waterlogged course.

Focus, connect and follow through!

I played one course in wind and hail so strong that I hit a really solid driver, a really solid 3-wood… and still had a 7-iron to the first hole… a 410-yard steep downhill par four. That was in high school.

I played Turnberry in Scotland on a day when it was so windy almost every other golf course in the area - in Scotland - were closed due to high winds. I almost drove the first green with a hybrid… and on other holes of the same length I had to hit three super solid 3-irons just to get on the front of the green.

My first college tournament at Doral blue monster. Seemed like we were playing in a mini-hurricane. One of those rounds where the umbrella is useless, sideways rain, tons of wind to the point where it was tough to make a balanced swing.
