the new spin milled wedges are even better than the old ones.
i would stick with them because they are what you are used to.
i played with the old ones for last year, and then i wore them out, and i switched to the new ones at the end of the season, and they shaved 3 strokes off my handicap. At least consider them while you're looking.
Peace,

yeah, from what i understand, us amateurs (sp?) will be allowed to play them for several more years. i wouldnt even worry about the new groove change for now... unless you are a pro i mean.....

Again I will say try srixon. This brand gets no respect in the u.s. The ad333 have been proven to produce less spin off the driver and more spin off the irons and wedges than the PRO V1. And this ball costs less than half the cost of PRO Vs. Anyways sorry for the rant. I have compared mizuno, callaway, vokey and srixon. Srixon WG-504 is the best, for me because I don't tend to take divots so I kneed less bounce. And this wedge has a great grind on it. CHECK IT OUT

I think that we will be allowed to play them till 2021 but I may be wrong....

to clear up my first post i mean't to say how much will they be reducing the size / depth shape of the grooves like what is the new standard for grooves is it bake to the u grooves that come on most irons and to the srixon manic the ad33 is a great ball but the prov1 spins way more bud like way more the prov1 is like 11,890 spin the ad33 was 8,889 something close to that i know i have it right to the nearest hundred so nice try bud are you bye any chance a srixon rep haha

He's not a srixon rep, only his irons and wedges are srixon. Plus, he said that it spins LESS off of the driver, so those measurements if taken off a drive would only prove him right. And if you're looking at the Golf Digest test, those numbers aren't accurate. They say a Pro V1x spins more than a Pro V1, which is false. Please don't write with no punctuation and the word "like" so much, it just is confusing.

lol no i duno got that info from srixon true players.

You know what confuses me: bad grammar. Please do not try to correct others when you mess up. This is a golf forum, not an English class. PM me if you want me to correct your grammar, punctuation, and word usage.

Those numbers are definately not off a driver. 8000 rpms and 11000 rms off a drive would be ridiculous. It would produce the highest ball flight ever. The numbers are probably off a 56*. If the test was done using a robot, then I trust the results more than a Srixon pro's opinion. I remeber reading that the Nike One Plantinum produces the most spin of any ball on the market. However, it is short when compared to others. To answer the OP's question...I would look at Vokeys. They are probably the highest played wedges on tour. (I'm sure that you could look this up.) You could probably search for golfers who do not have wedge contracts to see what they are playing. They will probably be playing the best wedges. However, they probably won't play SM Vokeys because they generate enough spin without the SM.

Feel Golf is the only company that I am aware of who's current grooves (modified V) conform to .....what will be..... the new USGA guidelines. If you want to test your game with a conforming wedge, you could give them a try. I bagged them for awhile last year and found them to perform nicely..... a very traditional, old school, design w/ no frills, but well designed.

Good luck,

Not a single golfer is paid for using a wedge from

Scratch Golf , yet a very significant number of pro's, from all the various tours, do ( #1 forged wedge on the Nationwide Tour ). I have 3 custom shop wedges and they are top of the line. Phenomenal wedges. Their 2009 offerings are really expanding and getting cheaper to boot. I strongly suggest that you give them a call. They will custom build a wedge for your game at a very competitive price.

    • I take 2nd, is a confirmation that you can eventually win your major and also is good material for having a laugh about it in the distant future.
    • I'm a relatively new golfer (<5 years) in my mid-thirties. So far I've spent most of my time and money on lessons and actually golfing. I'm currently a 90s-100s player, but hope to break into the 80s with lessons and practice. I'm definitely not of the mindset that flashy expensive clubs will help me play better...I try to make the assumption that my equipment is more capable than I am. That said, I do know that realistically that threshold does exist somewhere. I just have no idea where. At what point should I consider an upgrade from starter clubs to something I can grow into and improve with?  My stuff: Starter set (Callaway Strata) from Amazon. (3w, 5h, 9i-PW) Gently used Cleveland Wedges (LW, SW, GW) - My old ones were from a set from the late 90s, so I did upgrade these. Gently used TaylorMade M1 driver - The starter set driver had a regular flex, and I had several knowledgeable people tell me I should have a stiff flex Thanks in advance!
