For xmas I got a gift card to Dick's for a new set of irons. I wish I just had the cash, but I am bound to Dick's.

I tried the Taylormade R7 and really enjoyed them over all of the other clubs there. The only club I couldn't try was the Nike CCI, which is only available on their website apparently.

How does the CCI compare?

Thanks!

Go with the r7's i have them they are very long which is due to the strong lofts and a lite shaft. They will ballon if a fade is hit but isnt much of a problem unless you already have a high ball flight. As for the nike's ive never tries them but if there anything else like nike clubs there probably not any good

agreed, the r7's are great clubs, i love mine. They feel very nice for a cavity back, and have a pretty thin sole, so getting the ball up in the air isn't very hard. Good luck!

nike makes good clubs kcas77 and the cci i think are better then the r7 there are nike staff mebers playing them on tour and when i hit them they have less forgivness and more workabilty then the r7 and fell way softer when struck nice so if you want workabilty cci al the way.

I have the Nike CCI's with a metal stiff shaft and love them! They provide great feedback. Very sweet when you hit them good but still let you know when you miss the sweet spot. Never playe4d the R7 but figure what ever way you go you will be happy.

Thanks for the replies!

I just ordered the CCI's for $299. Also got a Nike SV Wedge and some new shoes. All for less than the R7s. Hope I like the CCI set :)

Can't comment on the r7's as i've never hit them but you will like the CCi's. The SV wedge is also very good.

I purchased the CCI Cast as a second set of irons to go in the back of the cabriolet about 2 months ago.

They are now up to my prefered set and will be the irons I start the season with ahead of my mizuno mp's.

And the sv wedge is nice also, I have a 58 degree one and love it, only used it for 3 rounds though.

I'd go for the CCI's like you did, I always found it difficult to judge distance with taylor made irons as the ball does come off them hot.

I can't speak for the R7s as I've never played them, but I don't think you'll be disappointed at all in the CCIs. I upgraded to the CCIs and thereafter dropped 30 strokes from my score.
Of course, it had far more to do with learning how to swing the club correctly (most of the time anyway) and upgrading to decent clubs (regardless of brand) than them being CCIs, but it makes for a nice sounding marketing pitch...
