Club "Dilemma"

A while back I was trying to get your opinions on whether I should get a 3 wood or a new sand wedge. I'm still on the fence of, but now I'm thinking some more. I love all of my clubs.... except the 5 wood. No matter what I try to do with it, I always seem to yank it, push it, top it, chunk it, you name it. My hybrid and 4 iron are seperated by 1*, but I'm still keeping both in the bag. So if I had a long shot in the rough, I'd hit hybrid. And on windy days I hit 4 iron. None of my golfing partners like my 54*, but I do so I'm definitely keeping it in the bag at least for now. Oh yeah, another club I just hate is my putter. I just never have a straight stroke, and it's just really distracting. I have about $110 to spend and I plan on getting maybe a 2H and a blade putter. Does anybody have any suggestions/critisisms?

Drop the 5 wood, if your not confident in a club, your never gonna learn to hit it.

I would save up for a putter first.. Get one you really like, i mean one that wou absolutly love. That will do alot more good than a 2H

Well, you might be able to pull both 2H and new putter off for $110 or just a little more if you check eBay and some of the other online discount retailers (or used at big box store maybe). Cleveland has new blade putters that are running about $70 or something like that new (they are milled and have received great reviews; besides you have almost every other manufacturer in your bag but Cleveland ). That leaves you about $40 which you could definitely pick up a good 2H for around that online if you look around. if you're wanting the same as your other hybrid you might not be able to get it for $40, but maybe a little higher. I got my Mizuno CLK Fli-Hi 2H for $40 earlier this year used from Golf Galaxy.

And Laxplayer is correct. You should just drop the 5W (especially if you can get a 2H). If you are not confident in a club, then it shouldn't even be in the bag (you might be able to sell it or trade it for some additional money toward other clubs). Also, if your 4 hybrid is like most, it's probably longer than your 4 iron and possibly closer to 3 iron anyway, so you may not be wasting a bag spot with it. Always carry the 14 (or less) clubs you have confidence it.

I've been looking and I can get a New Nickent Ironwood and a 4 out of 5 star Rife Mr. Beasly putter for $110 total. I'm hoping I could do that.

I agree with dropping the 5-wood, and a putter would probably come first for me if I hated my current one... after all that's 28-36 strokes a round, depending how well you putt.

Also... why are you looking at Nickent hybrids.... seems like you would want your hybrids to match, but maybe not... go with what works. I'd say the most important thing is to try the clubs out before buying, especially when you're on a limited budget... no sense getting a new club just to get one and wanting to replace it in a few months.

I dropped my 5 wood in favor of a 2H (nickent 3D Ironwood) and It was a great move. I love the 2H its my go to club for narrow fairways and long approaches.

I guess I am the different one. I sold my hybrid and picked up a 5 wood. But each to their own I could not hit the hybrid.

What was the Brand of the Hydrid. I tell you the nickent is the easiest club I've ever hit. I went out and replaced my 4 iron with a nickent 4H afterward because the thing was so easy to hit.

I did try some adam idea hybrids that I didnt like as much so maybe it's the make.

Just got a 3 wood, and 56*. Dropping my 58 since it's really beat up on the sole. Gonna add a 50 soon.
