I knew it was going to be bad as soon as I started warming up on the range. First tee, first shot pulled it but it was alright, then overshot the green and took about 15 shots to get back onto the green. The rest continued this way until I took my hat off on hole 7 where I hit a huge 3 wood about 300 yards then put the next shot on and 2 putted for birdie, then on 8 hit a nice baby draw to about 3 feet on a par 3 and sank the birdie putt. Then on 9 it was dark and hit a nice little 5 wood stinger, 9 iron on, made par to finish it out. Conclusion: hats suck! I dont understand why but I cannot play well with a hat on. It doesnt make any sense and it drives me crazy because my Irish skin doesnt do well with sun beating down on it all the time.

It was a flexfit. You would think I would feel naked without it since I've played baseball for 16 years of my life but for some reason on the course I cant wear a hat.

Maybe a visor would work....they sure are the most comfortable to wear.

As stated....I usually wear a visor, however I broke away from the norm and played today with a new hat.

First time wearing a full hat on the course in a while....sorta strange feeling....only during the cool weather months and then the visor will come out.

Awesome weather today.

It was a flexfit.

I hate flexfit hats. But I wear a 7 3/4 at LEAST. One size fits all my a*$.

I feel you on the hat though. I almost never wear one in the summer. Plus even the adjustable ones, on the whole, are way too low profile to feel comfortable. I like the Titleist, mesh in the back, "trucker's" style hat in the summer. I just added a Taylormade R7 green hat because it was high enough to be pulled down and still stay on my head. And I don't have a Taylormade club in my bag. It wasn't THAT long ago when the pros didn't wear hats. But with God knows how much money to wear the companies' logos on their head, I can't blame them for sweating it out (so to speak).

I dont ever wear an adjustable hat. It has to be fitted, back to the baseball thing. I have a fitted one that I used to like much better until I washed it and it shrunk. The flexfit is way too low profile

BTW I have that exact same Crown bag that I keep my poker money in! There was also a series of Nascar racetrack Crown bags, I have the Bristol Motor Speedway. I know that's way off topic, but that pic jumped out at me.

Yep....was goofing around with my camera after the Liberty Bowl....had just bought the hat there.....Crown was for the tailgaiting.....wanted more after Kentucky beat us!!!!!

They do make handy bags.

Don't like playing with hats or sunglasses. When its cold, I'll wear a skull cap. The brim of the hat bothers my sight line. Sunglasses slip off my ears (unless they are ski sun glasses). Then I don't like the weird tinting or change in natural colors.

Going to have lunch with a friend next week. He's fighting brain cancer that started out as skin cancer on his scalp. Hats irritate me, but I always wear one.

I can swing all different ways... I can go without any headwear, or I can wear a ballcap, visor, strawhat, or otherwise.

the straw hat is great for super sunny non-windy days that are above 90.

the visor is my most common go-to headgear... very versitle

ballcaps are good on cooler days... below 55-60

if it is crazy hot, crazy windy, or real cloudy I may go w/o anything

i even have a stocking golf hat for those insane cold days

I may be older than you guys but I have started to wear and enjoy a good straw wide brim hat along the lines of Tom Kite.Keeps my neck and bald spot from getting fried and still lets the air flow thru to my brain.

Maybe I suck at golf while wearing my hat?!?!?! Maybe without a hat, my handicap will drop, and I become the terror of the greens!!!

I honestly don't think I have ever swung a club without a hat on . . . now I am going to try it hat-free.

Maybe it was too tight. I feel naked without a hat on when I play.

I completely agree it just doesnt feel right without a hat on

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
