Hello from Orlando

Hello,

My name is Jay, and I am in central florida. I am 37 years old. I played golf a handful of times over the past 20 some odd years, but never thought much of it. Recently, playing Tiger Woods Golf on PS3 (go figure) has intrigued the family enough to encourage me to buy clubs for all of us (3 boys and wife) and get out there! We typically play at a 9 hole executive course in the evenings or weekends. We love it as a family!

I have good natural ability, and have taken one lesson where we changed my grip and backswing a bit. Prior to the lesson, I could hit the ball far, but would sometimes slice pretty badly-could be 75 yards right, but I used a strong grip and aimed left to compensate and usually ended up close to the fairway. Actually the only times I went OB is when it went straight, and I was compensating by aiming left. The new grip and backswwing is helping tremendously!

My 2nd 18 hole round (prior to the lesson) was my best to date (only have 3 in 08-09), and this was a 93 at Mayfair in Sanford FL from the white tee boxes.

For now, knee surgery has me working in slow motion, but I am only a few weeks away from putting that behind me, and I am still working on the mechanics with the new backswing and grip.

You will see my handicap coming down quickly this year, as I am giving up 2 nights of softball for this game (still playing 1 night of softball-which may affect my swing, but Golf is the priority).

Mayfair is a fun, family friendly, and relatively inexpensive track that will challenge you without beating you up. Good for you for getting the whole family involved!

Thank you! It felt great. Since then, I have had a knee operation (meniscus) and taken a lesson which changed my grip and swing, and should help my consistency. We will see! The healing process, and pain when I do try swinging the club is driving me nuts! Trying not to rush it is tough.

Oh yeah, I've played there once a few years ago, I was just wondering because there are not very many 9 hole courses here in Orlando.
