I'm interested in getting project X shafts in my new set of irons. I'm ordering them on Monday. I played r7 TP's with S300's, my current set is another set of r7 TP's with flighted rifle 6.0's. I'm ordering the new Tour Preferred's from Taylormade. When my swing is on key I have a very penetrating ball flight. I wouldn't say low, but definatley penetrating. If my swing is a little off generally I hit higher. My problem here is: many people have told me that the project x promotes a low ball flight, and many people have told me it promotes a high ball flight. To my knowledge its a high launching shaft, but has a flattening out effect. I've had guys tell me that tour pros like the shaft because they hit the ball so high that they use the project x to flatten it out and keep it down a little better, others have told me that they use it because they want to hit it even higher....so I'm a little confused. Please advise. I've hit all of the shafts into simulators and they all feel great, but I just dont trust simulators with the flights....I'm limited on time so I can't really find a driving range that has a bunch of demos to try. and it's pretty cold out. But I don't want to miss this opportunity to order them because I'm getting a dam good price on them...

what you heard are all true
they were just talking about different part of the ball flight

PX has higher initial launch but less spin
so the ball will go up fast but stay flat in the air
DG has lower launch but more spin
so the ball will rise up in the mid-flight

one thing to watch out for switching from DG to PX
is picking the right flex
or the PX is going to feel very harsh

also PX is stiffer than standard rifle
PX5.5 is considered closer in flex to DG S300

I orded a new set of AP1's with True Temper Dynamic Gold with Reg flex from my local golf store about 1 month ago. The golf store rang me and said that the irons have came in but they they have project x shafts on them.
Will the shafts preform different then the dynamic golds? like lower launch or firmer feel?

As stated above, the Project X will have a higher launch compared to DG but will flatten out in mid air. I personally tried both shafts and performed equally well with both but I would give slight preference to feel on the DGs. As for flex 5.0 would be similar to DG Regular flex. I think if you ordered DG but they gave you PX they should not up charge you for the shafts as PX are more pricey I think.

I switched from DGS300 to PX5.5 Flighted when I purchased my AP2's (old set was Nike game improvement irons). There is a significant difference between the two mostly because I am a high spin, high ball flight player. Driver swing speed ranges from 99 to 103. To be honest, I could probably switch between the two shafts and be happy but I like how they feel on the AP2s. The biggest difference was going to a 1/2 inch shorter shaft, 2 degrees less loft, less forgiveness and I only lost five yards distance. The difference should have been huge considering the difference between the two sets. I don't bring pride into the equation so I have no problem playing an 8 iron from 150yds out instead of a 9 iron. Maybe the shaft helped make up the difference between the two sets and recovered some of what I would ahve lost in distance.

Wish I could offer more but my opinions are based on two different sets.

Sorry I meant to say PX4.5.

I don't think PX comes in 4.5

PX gives a harsh feedback on miss hit compare to DG

if anyone seeks the PX ball flight with DG feel, KBS Tour is the shaft.

I play Project X 6.0 in my AP2s High launch with spin. I am 1/2 club longer than I was with DG S300, great strong trajectory. I have not noticed a difference holding greens even with my longer irons. Not to worry Titleist Man, Project X are great shafts.

    • More actual thoughts on the articles: Oh boy. I taught 5SK, and before that, I was S&T certified. Those experiences, for many good instructors, are additive. They're not "all" that they are. If I were to go through Scott Cowx's certification, or Dr. Kwon's, or James Ridyard's, or whomever's… I wouldn't be a "method" teacher any more than I am now. I'd be adding tools to the toolbox. He says there are "system" teachers, "non-system" teachers, and method teachers. Which one am I? A "non-system teacher"? So, I don't have any systems or structure? Or am I a "system" teacher with a bunch of branches and if/then/else statements? I don't know. The physics thing as it relates to S&T… yeah, that's already been discussed. Huh? Brendan, sorry, that part is bogus AF. Of course the arms go "around" somewhat. It's back, up, and in. Down, out, and forward. Plus, again, "energy can either be created or destroyed" isn't even right, as many of you have said. It's "neither" and it can be transformed, too. Plus, as others noted, that's typically a closed system: in our bodies we transform sugars and other things to create movement, energy. I'm going to move off this before I get totally annoyed… "These are the pontifications of a method" — no, the specific example he cited is the way everyone who has ever played good golf moves their hands - back, up, and in. The clubhead moves that way, too. I've seen this happen. This part might be the most accurate part of the article (it's no longer clear whether he's talking about this fellow or just talking in general here.) "Now here’s the sinister thing: The overwhelming information is by design." — If the instructor is as incompetent as he says, he's likely not doing any of this "by design." He doesn't sound bright enough to do so. WTF does that have to do with anything? Probably happens to some extent sometimes, but is that the instructor's fault? Or the student for not recognizing it? Also, again, this instructor doesn't seem to be bright (not that this article even really talks about the instructor anymore), so… I doubt he's doing all of this intentionally. People are found out eventually. I'm at a point where I get a lot of referrals from people who have noticed their friends playing better golf, and ask. Or people want to brag about their improvements, and that sells their friends. "As a result, these players couldn’t play golf." — Huh? I think he just observed when he was there. Not that he went out of his way to watch. 😄
    • I am dying..🤣 Can one of yall come and pick me up from the floor?
    • If you can’t, attack it. That’s the new age ideology.
    • Is it possible that he writer is full of shit himself? "After months of listening and watching...". Yeah right, cuz that's so normal for writers do that just to get a single article out of the massive endeavor. I mean unless you are angling for a Rant-Pulitzer (Yup, it is a thing.. like, totally).
