Hello everyone,

Pretty much new to golf, started few years ago did no research and purchased the wrong type of clubs. After fighting the weak graphite shafts on my irons and the learning curve itself I gave up.

Sold those clubs and getting back into this spring. Been searching for winter deals to get my set built up. So far that has worked out great.

Leasons will be starting in another week or so and I have more time now in my life to be dedicated to the sport.

I'm 35yrs old, married to a awesome girl who is very supportive of my hobbies :)

Glad to have found this place and look forward to hearing what you all have to say.

Shawn

what courses do you play?

So far I have hit Geneva Farm up in Harford County. Don't have much experience like I said really new. Hopefully the lessons pay off and get me going in the right direction this year. I play with a buddy of mine (got me into golf) and plan on hitting quite a few courses this year. Shawn Where are you in Baltimore?

I live in Towson area. I am a member at TGCC-Eagles Nest, but have played Geneva a few times. its a nice track up there. My sister is actually getting married at Geneva Farms this summer.
good luck with your game, but be warned, golf is an addiction!

Grats to your sister :)

I know man, after a few games I have been blown away. Stopping up to Golf Galaxy after work today to get my buddies irons re-gripped for a surprise B-day gift. He is on Vacation in Colorado. Be right up the road from ya.

I hope several people read this about how the wrong clubs at least played a part in your giving up the game. I think a lot of people do this. Getting properly fit and getting lessons are very important for new golfers and both are something few new golfers do. I'm glad you took the initiative to get lessons. I hope you also make good purchases on clubs (hopefully you either got fit or will get fit).

Good luck with lessons and getting back into the game.

Thank you for that, I think I made some good choices with the new clubs I have now. Once the lessons kick in I will change out anything that me need to be changed if at all. This game is too much fun to give up. Shawn

    • I honestly think they were saying feet but it was in yards. The apex height was horrible, yeah. The rest was, from what I saw, pretty good. I agree it should be up on almost any shot they hit into the screen. Heck, I'd love to see it on the short shots around the green, but they don't have launch monitors over there, so… oh well. Go figure they're Full Swing LMs. It's funny they have like twelve of them going. It's not a good LM, but… Tiger's involved, so…
    • Some of the tee shot data they showed was wildly incorrect too, specifically apex height There were multiple drives that they claimed had apex heights of like 35 feet yet they still carried 300yds. I wonder if that was the apex height when it reached the screen, not the calculated apex height.  I do agree that more data and even being able to hear/see which clubs the players select would be nice. They could easily do it by having someone looking in the bag and pressing a button for whichever club is missing from the player's bag as they're walking up to hit.
    • I was hoping to see the data on all the shots. Not just carry and total distance, but all of the stuff you see on a simulator. It should be on the TV screen like you see relevant data for a football game. A couple of the approach shots they didn't even state the distance to the pin. I think that would probably be something they add as time goes on as they get feedback. I was surprised the camera didn't zoom in on wives and children, unless I missed it. I didn't watch the last 3 holes. I guess they weren't going for a family vibe. I will watch again, but with less anticipation. It was a Tuesday night and the weather sucks.
    • I wouldn't mind getting a Jupiter hat since I live down here, plus it's Tiger's team. I enjoyed how much faster it was, as well as the grass tees. I'm looking forward to Tiger's first match next week. Shame, it looks like the entire season's sold out. I live right down the road from it. Oh well.
    • I'm wearing a Ballfrogs hat in my photo with Lou from the other day (and I wore it again today): This was the WORST the production and live show are going to be, and they got a lot of things right with only room to grow. I think it'll only get better (not wildly so, but incrementally). And it didn't help that it was a blowout, and yet… it was still pretty interesting. Singles was weirdly a little bit of a drag. I almost wonder if that's not a mid-season change.
