Read in Golf World that Paul Goydos was the only player not to miss a putt of 3 ft or less in 2008 and his streak is now 785 straight from that distance as of the Buick Invitational. Does anyone else find this mind boggling. I know these guys are good but not to miss from that distance for a whole season.

I'm at 2 in a row and putting lights out.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

I'm at 2 in a row and putting lights out.

Shiit, I'd take 2 in a row.

That is incredible. I wonder if it's a world's record for consecutive 3footers or less in competition (which is much different than just hitting 2footers on the practice green). Some of those 2 and 3 footers on tour are incredibly difficult putts.

I really like Goydos. He refused to change his Long Beach Banana Slugs hat during the final round of the Players last year (even though he was offered a pretty penny by several sponsors to do so)

Goydos is a cool dude.

My only question about this is if he does have that many why the other day when watching the golf channel they brought up putting inside 5' and his name was no were to be seen. The top guy had hit 100 percent of his puts but only had like 100 some of them. If Goydos does have 785 does he really miss that many from 4 and 5' to knock him out of this list. The only thing that i could possibly not understand is if this was for only one tournament.

wow thats incredible 785 in a row! I need that when I'm playing in tournaments, and I wonder what my handicap would be then?

Some guy's numbers drop off fast just a few feet farther out. He could be in the top 10 from 3' and in the bottom 10 from 5'. I heard someone commenting on a player a few weeks ago saying he was something like #1 from 5' and over 140th from 10'.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
