Ok heres my situation. Someone I know owes me a set of irons and I was thinking of going w/ the AP2s. But now im thinking of gettig my current clubs reshafted and waiting till next year when titleist will come out w/ their new irons. And I do have enough money to do the reshafting.
So would you
1. Get the AP2s or ZBs.

2. Get my current clubs reshafted and wait till next year.

Im leaning toward waiting right now because I have a feeling that Titleist will come out w/ something great next year and this is my lat set for at least 4 years. So in my position what would you do? Thanks in advance!

If it we"re me, I'd get the new irons immediately. I might not be here tomorrow.

My Mother always used to say: "Life is not a dress rehearsal."

Really, how upset could you possibly be with the AP2's?

I very much doubt Titleist will bring out more irons next year, so choose betwen the AP's or the ZB's and get on with it.

WarBird 5 Wood - steel shaft.
Titleist AP2 3-PW

I don't have much patience so I would go with the AP2's right now. Today. This minute.
What is wrong with the MP 67's? or the shafts in them?
Manufacturers will always bring out something better (either in performance or looks) so I never go down the path of waiting to see what is coming out in the future. (unless it is the very near future.)

The whole concept of waiting because something new might come out is crazy. 3 years from now Titleist will probably come out with something even better, but I doubt you want to wait that long. If it's something you want to do your usually better off doing it now. It might be different if you were just waiting until March or April, but waiting an entire year doesn't make since just to be waiting for the unknown. If you are happy with current clubs then wait and see what they come out with. If you want new (for whatever reason) then buy now.

I agree with getting them now. If you know you like the AP2s then I would I just go ahead and get those. Especially because if you wait until next year and new irons come out and the AP2s are harder to come by, you may not be able to get exactly what you want. I say get fitted and such for your AP2s now and get exactly what you want.

As much as you have posted about new clubs I would think you will drive yourself crazy by waiting. Every day you will look to see if you can find anything about a new Titleist iron, which may or may not come out in the next year or two. Their lineup right now is pretty solid, so they may not develop anything new for a couple of years. My position, if you want new clubs, get them now. If it was a Taylor Made driver I would say wait, as they will probably have two new ones out next month.

If you are still on the fence about the AP2 v. ZB, demo, demo, demo. I am guessing that you know a course that has the Titleist fitting cart or demo clubs. Take the club heads, shafts, and the nifty wrench to the range and switch up the combination after 10-12 balls and see what works best for you. And not just on one day. Hit each of them several times on several different occasions.

Like you, I was torn between the two. After my first demo I was all set to get AP2 with PX 5.5. The more times I hit both, I started to prefer the ZB. After my second time, the pro at the course just let me take the heads and shafts to the range and gave me a big bucket of balls. I did this 6-7 times over a two month span. Even when I was 95% sure I knew what I wanted, I went back yet again just to be sure. After all of my testing, I ended up with the ZB and DG X-100, because that was the best combination for me.

IMHO, spend your time finalizing what you want to get, when you figure it out, get them.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I say if "someone..owes (you) a new set of irons" you'd better get them to cough up now. Wait a year and they will conveniently remember the situation differently and maybe buy you a wedge.

just get the AP2s...i play them and they're sweeeeet. If it doesn't work out, you can always trade them in and get something else. Titleists tend to retain their value well on trade-ins.

There will always be a latest and greatest coming next year.....and the year after that.....and the year after that.

If you're ready for new irons now, buy them now.

Enjoy!
