For use as a ball marker? I am using a 20 cent from Switzerland, but I really want something that is a little bigger and gold, so I can actually find it.

Does someone know of a cool looking, preferably gold colored, that can be used as a ball mark?

Thanks in advance

Canada uses a $1 coin that is called a loonie (because of the loon on it) and it.

We also have a $2 coin that came out after called a 'twoonie' which is the one I prefer to use; it is a little bigger and looks better IMO.

Yeah I use £50 notes for the same reason, plus you can putt over it!

I know someone in the electronics business. As a hobby he electroplates coins. I use a gold, electroplated quarter.

I use a submarine coin. The TEXAS and now this summer the MISSOURI. They are big and hard to miss. You can't putt over them.

For those that don't know, a submarine coin is given out by its commanding officer.

They have the President Obama commerative coins. That would make you popular.

If you want something different, try using a mardi mras dubloon (thrown out at mardi gras parades. They are unique to the parade, and especially cool if you actually caught it during the parade (and hence will have good mardi gras storys to tell.)

Funny this thread is here. My nieces just got back from a local kids' gameroom/pizzeria called Chuck E Cheese's, and the place uses gold tokens for all the games. I was thinking about using them as ball markers - original, & keeps the fun in the golf.

Haha. That's such a good idea. Chuck E Cheese.

The mardi gras dabloons are also a cool idea. Really colorful anyway. Are those made of plastic or metal? I know a lot of guys who just put down a nickel, quarter, dime, whatever. It's really funny because this other guy always thinks that the group before them dropped the coins, so he picks them up. Then when the guys are like "That was my mark," he puts down a penny instead of whatever he picked up. All the guys are friends and always play in the same group, so it's just in good fun.

the doubloons are made from a really lightweight metal, about 1-1/4 inches across, and probably available by the bagload for dirt cheap at a nearby party goods retailer just about anywhere in the US.

I use a tie tack, or hat pin. It has the little pin on the back of it, so I just stick it in the ground. I'm thinking of cutting it off, but I don't want to F up my tie tack. It's a Tatuaje pin, with a red Flour de lis on it. If you don't know Tatuaje is an awesome brand of Nicaraguan cigars. That's what I smoke while playing.

In my bag are

I noticed during a round with my Dad one day that he was marking his ball with a Susan B Anthony gold dollar coin. I made mention that I thought it was "neat" that he had thought of doing that. After the round...he gave me the gold dollar.

The next week, my Dad passed away from a blood clot in his brain.

I have used that dollar for a ball mark ever since.
