I'm looking for some ideas on how to mount a camcorder on my stand bag so I can record a few shots here and there for analysis. If I had a nice, solid mount that could just be clipped onto my bag real quick I could record a few swings each round without slowing play down at all. I walk all the time when golfing by myself(which is 80% of the time).

Depending on your bag, you might look at a mono pod that you attach to the camera and slide into a slot of your bag. Most have adjustable connection for angles, ect. So as your bag is supported on the legs it would compensate for that lean. It would just be a matter of securing it so it doesn't swing around on your walk.

I like that idea. I'll look into one of those. Thanks.

If you get a monopod, if it has a swivel ball top, it makes it much easier to aim. I've been meaning to buy this monopod:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...specifications

It extends to almost 5 feet and can double as a tabletop tripod.

I currently use a tabletop tripod - it's a very homebrew solution, as the tripod fits awkwardly on top of the golf bag, but I already had it, so I didn't have to buy anything.

I second the Gorillapod recommendation. That's what I've got - works fine and is much smaller and lightweight than any sort of monopod.

Do you just prop it up on top of your bag?

I recommend a Manfrotto (Bogen in USA) magic arm. They are infinitely adjustable, and very well made. They are revered by photographers world wide for mounting remote cameras and devices. There is absolutely no risk that it will fall if mounted correctly.

Here's a link to a kit that has everything you would need.

There are a lot of camera clamps.

The Super Clamp with a stud (several brands) about $20. This is the least expensive but there is no method to easily aim/reaim the camera when mounted to clamp. Basically, you need to fasten the clamp such that the camera is pointing where you want it.

Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Super Clamp with 056 3-D Junior Head ( $56 at bhphoto.com ) : a super clamp plus an adjustable head. The adjustable head like the top of a tripod allows for easy aiming of the camera. The clamp (same as above) can attach to any upto 2 inch round or a rectangular surface. The screw locking mechanism is very secure.

Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Magic Arm Kit - consists of: Magic Arm, Camera Platform, Super Clamp, Backlite Base Price:$136.95 at bhphoto.com. This is a still more elaborate flexible system for directing the camera. The major advantage is arms allow for position the camera fairly far from the clamp -- away from clubs, bag, etc. It may stick out too far though. The weight is up to about 3 pounds.

If you have soft headcovers on your woods, it's very possible to balance a camcorder without any kind of brace. I've done it and have seen others do it. Do it the Great Recession way.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll look and see if my camcorder will sit up on my bag by itself without needing a clamp like nevets88 said.

Although I sure would hate for my $500 camcorder to fall on the ground.

The cheaper options sure would be nice as money is a little tight in this "Great Recession".
