On a par 3 if I plugged into the green in wet conditions, do i get a free relief drop, if so,,what if the ball rolls in the cup?
....as long as i drop no nearer the hole ,,is a determination made after the ball settles to drop again if it rolled closer to cup or into cup?

if not..i drop further from hole for relief and ball rolls in say down a slope of green....IS that a hole in one?

1 in a million ,,,but it probaby has happened.

The putting green has it's own set of rules.

In this case, there is no drop. You would mark your ball, lift it and repair the pitchmark. Then you replace your ball at that exact place and continue play as you normally would.

I have a question, and I looked it up in the rules of golf and couldn't find anything on it, so I assume that I just have to play it as it lies, but it doesn't hurt to ask:

At a course here, they haven't yet put out any rakes for the bunkers, so each bunker around the greens is in awful shape. My ball landed in a deep foot print crater and it was literally impossible to get it out. It landed in another crater in the bunker, which was even deeper. Do I really have to play this as it lies? I feel like I should be allowed to take a drop or something. Too bad this place hasn't put out their bunker rakes yet....

In a tournament you have to play it unless the home course states you can rake and place on that day. What I normally do in the winter time if someone did not rake their previous shot, I smooth out the sand and drop it. Then play from there.

It's a shame that so many players think that since there aren't any rakes, they don't have to make any effort at all to smooth their footprints. All they'd have to do is just kick sand over them or rake with the SW after they play and it keeps the bunkers in reasonable playing shape. My course has the same problem. Since we can't submit scores for handicap during the winter, we usually allow a player within our group to smooth the sand and replace the ball. It's not allowed under the rules, but we see it as an equity situation this time of the year. No relief is given unless the lie is truly in a footprint. Sometimes a bad lie is just a bad lie.... bunkers

are suposed to be hazards, after all.
