I played with a 20 yr golf veteran last night who made me lose it and $#^$ the round.

1st offense. he hits 3 feet from flag on a par 3. I went bunker then fringe, 20 ft from cup, chipping on for 3. I AM A FAST PLAYER not holding up anyone. I am about to swing my chip and I look up and there he is putting with the flag in. I stop and say WTF are you doing? He laughs like a goofball, misses his putt, then i go and chili dip my chip, ( I NEVER DO THIS ANYMORE) put from 18 ft then make double bogey, he proceeds to say to our 3rd in the group "that was a nice birdie" ? WTF? this type of crap is a distraction IMO.

We are a 3some walking and keeping pace with 2some in a cart. On a par 5 he hits a drive towards trees and insists his ball clears this creek, spends 15 minutes looking for his ball, never finds it, then claims par. BS. meanwhile the 2some behind us is waiting endlessly on the fairway for him to hole out.

10th hole par 3 he pulls a horrid 130 yrd drive left onto a cart path adjacent hole, ball is gone probably in a pond, no big deal. then gets on the phone while looking for the ball(in a valley with horrid reception) and spends 10 minutes looking for a ball thats in a pond. (cant admit it) then while still on the phone, takes a drop, then chili dips then duff putts on the green. We (2) finished the hole and went to the next hole and left him there, we both drove our par 4 before he even finished the hole. The 2some behind us waiting at the tee box.

2 holes later we ALL drive into the adjacent hole and delay the 2some in cart ahead of us, we were on their heels waiting on them at the tee box. I see all of us in their fairway and immediately feel it proper to get out the way or let them play through, so i burn a ball back to my fairway, as does the 3rd in our group, my slow friend takes 4 minutes at address (while they wait)for a ball 240 yds from green(WTF?) then worm burns it 20 yards! I said all that for a 20 yard worm burner!

the phone $^%& pisses me off only when your holding people up. otherwise talk away while your walking.

The 3rd who didnt know me was talking about how my game could improve with more DR practice, and I said, "this round is FUBAR", he asked "why?"
I said, "I detest being in a group that holds people up and this 2nd player in our group is a 14HI and here he is being the slowest player on the course. talking on the phone, being ignorant, etc. " If I didnt know this dude, I think I would have played ahead and left him on the hole several holes back. I shoot 95-100 every round almost, and hit the ball on a par5 to the ladies tee at times. I NEVER HOLD PEOPLE UP, I address my awful drive and advance the ball down the course ASAP until i feel it appropriate to maintain pace with my group. WE WERE HOLDING UP THE COURSE LAST NIGHT, this I am certain of. Of our 3some I was the least experienced and highest HI player.

I think this started with him putting on the green when I was about to chip my shot for par. I could give a rats ass about him claiming birdie. I should get a do-over since he distracted me(and yes it did) BUT I try to play by the rules, being a noob to the game. In general he cheats im certain of that, on the next par 3, he taps the ball off the tee and re-tees it, I said now your swinging 3. (he would have counted that against me FOR SURE). He counted a 5 on a par3 and it should have been a 7.

Rant over for now. I think Ill stick to playing solo or joining 2some or 3somes. The last 3some I was in would hit balls in other fairways, and they just dropped on our rough since the course was busy. I didnt know them but god bless em for being courteous.

I took yesterday afternoon off to play 18. There was nobody around. I thought I was in the twilight zone. It was a gorgeous afternoon and I didn't have to wait once. We started at 1:15 and finished at 4:30 walking. THAT is how the game should be played.

If you don't mind me asking - which tees do you use?

I play the white tees. I'm not good enough, nor do I hit long enough to play the blues. Maybe someday, but for the foreseeable future I will remain on the whites with an eye over my shoulder.

This is what they are doing in Georgia. I wish more clubs would do the same.

This is totally foreign to me. In Victorville I was golfing a super twilight the other day and did not see another golfer until my 7th hole. Once I caught up to him he picked up the pace and that was the end of it. My total wait time was about 1 minute.

" Is it people playing from the tips that can't even hit it past the ladies tees?"

Then they would have to play with their pants down for 50% of the time. lol
