check out what's in other player's bag in your 4some while playing?

Or check out what other people are hitting on the driving range?

I go to courses alone a lot & get matched with 2somes or 3somes for a round. I rarely notice what other people are playing.

But I was at the driving range today & as I was walking past the stalls I did notice a lot of name brand clubs....callaways, Cobras, Nike, Titleists, etc.....I guess the bad economy does not effect golfers lol

sure, not sure that I get envy, but I do check out what my playing partners carry. I'm usually most interested in bag composition; how many woods, hybrids, wedges etc, and what their wedge set up is.

Well said. I feel the same way.

I suppose I'm more envious of their shots...not their clubs. I'll watch someone launch an iron shot ten miles up.....and watch it hover over the pin and drop down and stop tight in the shadow of the flagstick. I know the high approach shots aren't always the best...but they sure are fun to watch and I'm going nuts playing the low ball all too often. Putters are about the only club I'll see and want to test out for myself. Aside from putters....I can't game most of their sticks anyway.

i like sein what everyone games its interesting, never ben jealous of em though, and for some reason i always get paired with high handicappers i would love to watch a scratch or better player for once.

Not at the range, but if I'm paired up with someone I will check out what they are playing. Talking about clubs is sometimes a nice topic to chit chat about.

I don't envy what others have because I buy what I want in the first place with absolutely no regard to price. That way, I have no reason to "envy" anyone else's stuff and no reason to regret what I have. I replace my some of my stuff often enough that I don't get technologically behind. If anything, I envy others power major power hits that I just can't seem to make happen.

I like to see what other people are playing when I play with people I don't know. There's so much golf gear out there that it's interesting to see what makes it into people's bags and occasionally you catch something unusual or particularly interesting that can be a good talking point. Though if I ever see one of those uroclubs I might have to rethink things!

I buy the equipment I want myself, so I never envy someone else. If I'd wanted some of their clubs I'd buy them. I don't look too much I guess, but I take notice of what clubs they are carrying, not so much what brand and model.

Microrayfish....what are uroclubs? When I lived in England I saw people playing clubs with names I never heard of.

Wedgeplayer: I've never been matched up to play with a low-handicapper <5 handicapper either. I talked to a buddy about this. He said the reason is that most people that are that good have regular 4somes that they play with every week.....so you would rarely be matched with them in a 4some.

I check out what are in other's bags, but never have envy. I'm pretty particular about my clubs so I know that 99% of the clubs out there would not be for me. It does make a good topic for discussion when you are playing with someone new.

Nope... don't care. I might notice it if the clubs have grass and mud caked all over them, but I certainly don't make a point of looking.

    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
