My friends is a cheater

Hello I wonder about if somebody can help or give me advise on this question?
My best friend have cheated in a competition and I think it's such a bad thing to do, I haven't t told anyone yet and wonder if I should? Or just forget about it? I appreciate your advice.

Don't tell on him, but tell him you saw him and that he should stop being a wuss and play like a man. I have a friend who does the same thing and it gets on my nerves; whenever his ball gets in a pivot, he would get it out with his foot thinking nobody would see, and other stuff like that.

We don't play in tournaments though, just for fun.

well i think the right thing to do would be to ask him about it and try and tell him politely to not do it again.

if its something like putting the ball mark in front of the ball and setting the ball back down behind the ball mark (moving it closer to the hole) then talk to him about it because it could be a bad habit that he needs to break.

Agree here. Remember that as a playing partner, one of your responsibilities is to protect the field. No need to be a jerk about it to him, but find a friendly way to let him know that, at least for tourney play, he has to follow the rules.

I love all these junior Freuds we have at the Sandtrap. No, if someone cheats at a casual round of golf that "typcically" does not make him someone who cheats his way through life. Unless of course there is money on the line, then in that case, by all means, don't play with him again.

Tough one if he really is your best friend. I'd be inclined to have a word and suggest he volunteers to inform those in charge of the comp. that he made "a mistake". Signed his card wrong or whatever. If it really was a comp. as you say above, I don't think he should be allowed to get away with it scot-free.

What did he do? Is this the first time you caught him out?

I remember playing with this kid as a junior, the worst cheat EVER. He would take 3 swipes to get it out a bunker and then calmly say "I got a 3 there", he was older and had a low handicap (I wonder why!) so I just didn't know what to say. I just left him to it and sent an anonymous complaint to the head of juniors!

I remember once, in an October medal, 3 groups of juniors played the last 2 holes all together in pitch black darkness. It was almost impossible to find your ball. Anyway, people were a bit dodgy with the scores if they couldn't find the ball-I got 2 bogeys sort of thing. This guy though, same cheating lad, I'm scoring for, he claims he finished with-2 birdies-Ha ha, the last is a 200 yard par 3, I don't think I ever birdied it-he claims to birdie it in pitch darkness. This guy was such a cheat he 'developed' a 7 handicap and got junior county training on the strength of it. Ridiculous. In my experience a lot of people don't play to the exact laws-I guess it depends what you call cheating. The kid I talked about was a pure cheat.

What were the circumstances? How do you think he cheated? How do you claim to know he cheated? You need to provide a lot more information, otherwise it's really unfair to have people speculating on what happened, kind of pointless unless you want to provide some essential details.

Reminds me of a good friend of mine. He will shoot a 6, tell you he shot a 5, and then write down a 4 on the scorecard. Needless to say, he dosen't keep score anymore.
