Was about 40* for my 8:27 tee time this morning before class. Started spitting some tiny hail/sleet that lasted til the 9th. Then, once we hit 11, every sprinkler popped up and we pretty much got wet/misted the whole back 9. Good part was there was only one other guy on the course besides the 2 of us, and he played thru on hole 4 and zipped on ahead.

ya. at times being a golfer in the midwest can be exceedingly frustrating.

However, I think there is a special little something about coming back after a long layoff that a lot of golfers in other climates never experience. This time of year I just get so excited to play golf and about the possibilities for the upcoming season. I can't imagine that those with one or two month layoffs feel the same way.

Don't get me wrong though. Sometimes I just wonder how I got so screwed location wise when I see the sun shining and green golf courses in other parts of the country.

I agree with you and that makes a lot of sense. Like you said though I often feel screwed and as soon as my kids are grown I'm moving to year-round golf. About 15 years and counting LOL

Yeah, I hear ya. My first round was another cold and miserable morning, but on the first hole, a short par 4, I stung a nice 3 wood down the fairway off the tee and it felt amazing. Nothing like that feeling of actually putting that first ball in play.

One more funny thing. I was setting up to hit on a par 3 and just as I take my backswing, a goose comes flying over out of nowhere. I came within about a foot of nailing it with a 9i.

Last time I played, 11 days ago it was 80° and I played in golf sandals and shorts.... it's been snowing ever since.

More snow (6-12") predicted tomorrow night, and again by mid week. sometimes springtime in Colorado sucks. Winter was nicer...

Sorry guys, I can't feel any pity for you. Right now we still have snow on the ground and it looks like it will be at least a week before I can get on the course. It's looking like another week of chipping and putting in the house.

Much respect for you Midwesterners!!!!!

I went to Illinois a couple years ago on a week long bowhunt. I was introduced to real wind while I was there. Your weather systems do not play!!!!

For the record....you guys have the best bucks in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never seen such massive bodies and huge racks.

Don't worry though....in less than two months we will be miserably sweltering under heat and humidity here while you folks are strolling around the course in supreme comfort. You can laugh at us then.

Augusta looks great on televsion coverage of the Masters....but from the end of May through October you are subject to one constant.....sweat and more sweat. I'm not complaining, though....I love it down here...but man do we go through tons of sunscreen and have to wear funny looking hats.

I teed off the last two Saturdays with the temp around 36 both days!

Frost delay both days too...

Still felt good to be outside, but putting was a problem...

Got a 9:00 tee time This Saturday, will probably be in the 30's again... Plus a little rain this time just for good measure!

Oh well.... pretty soon.......

You need to go to Northern MI... "Escanaba in the Moonlight"... that's were the hunting is at. Biggest whitetails I've ever seen has to be Saskatchewan though... too bad I was there to goose hunt.

The word from this mornings news was snow rain mix im pulling for the rain, i dont think i can deal with getting the shovel back out again. Having said that, i dont mind playing when it is 40 and cloudy, golf is an outdoor game and part of the fun is adapting to the weather. look at Scotland 40-60 year around cold windy and rainy, that is what golf is all about playing not only the course but the weather. Dont get me wrong though nothing beats 75 sunny and a little brize.

You should visit Illinois during the Summer! We don't mess around with extreme temperatures in any season.

Quick question for my fellow CWG (Cold Weather Golfers)… What do you wear when the weather is in the 40s?

I don't think I've ever played in this temperature range believe it or not. I've played in colder for certain, but I'm worried about bundling up too much tomorrow.
