most overrated clubs/brands? most underrated?

I think Callaway clubs are a bit overrated, especially drivers and woods.

Titleist fans seem to think their equipment is better when it is really the same stuff that everyone else makes, it's good stuff, just not better. Especially the balls like the Pro V1

My favorite company is quickly becoming Nickent. I just ordered a 4dx 4 wood which I've hit a 3 and feels amazing and performs as such. Their hybrids are seen as some of the best on the market so needs no help there. However, I do think they make some fantastic irons. A few months ago, I ordered their ARC blades. I have not yet put them into play (hence, not in my signature) because I promised myself I wouldn't touch them until I finished my thesis, due this monday. However, I have hit them before. I have also hit a few mizuno's, more specifically, the mp-67 musclebacks. When pured, they feel extremely similar, cuts straight through the ball with a nice click, shapes the way you want it, goes where you point it. However, the miss hits are amazing. They don't hurt as much as miss hits are supposed to, and the club doesn't exactly twist like a miss hit would make it. Amazing. I have also heard extremely good things about their 4dx pro combo forged irons. Well, their head guy, Hoeflich, has done some pretty amazing things including tommy armour 845's, titleist dci's, and taylormade's rac so I'll pretty much trust anything else coming out of him. From looking at mostly Taylormade/titleist/mizuno, my bag is quickly filling with Nickent.

Who cares?? I mean really... Don't we all play what we can hit best. IACAS had it right. No matter the manufacturer there's gonna be people saying they stink and people saying they're great. So really whats the point in it?

lol ... Agree with Mizuno irons are overrated on this forum. Ok, I am using them. They are good, and feel great. They are the best irons I have had. But this forum is just too much ....

IMHO:

Over-rated: Mizuno Irons, Cameron Putters, Scratch Wedges

Under-rated: Nickent Irons & Woods, Wilson Staff line

I think scottys are overrated.. never understood paying that much for a putter, it can't be THAT much better.

Camerons arent any better than a $90-$150 Ping or Odyssey.

All you are paying for is a name and the words, "Scotty Cameron" on a putter isnt going to make you sink more putts. There was a time when I bought into the mystique of "premium" putters too, Ive owned Camerons, Bettinardis and T.P. Mills putters and while they were beautifull putters, they dont work any better than any of the less expensive putters.

Cobra is another one I forgot to mention. My friend plays Cobra irons, and they are just overall great irons. I have not hit them much, but when I did, I wasn't disappointed. They are out of my budget, but didn't matter anyway because I love my Cleveland irons. The only other time I really see Cobra clubs is when people have some sort of Cobra wood/driver in their bag; I rarely see the irons.

Not true. It was Nickent's decision to pull out of the tour.

Yeah, Cobras arent bad. They are basically Titleist's "budget" line, but there really isnt anything cheap about them.

that pretty much sums it up doesn't it? And it's why I have no callaway equipment.

You have a Taylormade R9 in your bag. That is the textbook definition of high-end, high-price.

You'll get no argument from me on that. I mess with my swing a lot though and I really like the ability to alter the club. The point I was trying to make is that all the major golf equipment companies are making pretty good stuff and you can have an excellently equipped bag without paying top price.
