I just went up to the mp 60 from the mizuno mx 23, at the same time I was fitted. I went up 2 degrees up right , and up to a mid size grip. I typically have a left to right shot, was hopeing to start drawing the ball a little. Well, I could hit the 8-p straight slight L to R. But 7 -4 I get the big pull, I tried to weaken my grip, helped a little and I tried to slow down I like to get after it. Any sugestions?

I play MP 60s too. You may just not be used to your lie angle yet. The heel of your clubs are probably striking the ground slightly before the sole, closing the clubface a bit through impact.

Sounds like Lie angle to me. it is possible to adjust just the longer clubs. The pros adjust each club with a lie board. Some are upright, some are flatter, but each club is individually fit to the player. So don't feel bad about making adjustments if you need.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

My suggestion is to go hit the impact board and bend them back. 2 degrees is definitely too upright if you are unable to hit it straight.

you shouldn't be depending on your lie angle to create a drawn ball flight. Your lie angle should allow you to hit the ball straight.

That's funny, I got fitted last month and the answer to all my problems was -- "Go 2 degrees up." Took my newly adjusted clubs to the course the next day and started hooking everything until I weakened my grip significantly.
Which made me lose distance. Which infuriated me. I was playing fine before, pulling my wedges a little left, pushing my long irons a little right, but I knew where the ball was likely to go and adjusted accordingly.

But then I thought "If I go get fitted, I'll hit everything straight," which was of course absurd. So to counter the hooksies I decided to take my hands out of the equation and re-gripped with bigger grips. I ended up hitting a baby fade, but not as far as I was with standard lies and regular grips.

Such an annoying problem. I just dropped my clubs off to be re-gripped back to the size I liked before (i.e., that felt good in my hand, regardless of what the size chart said), and I'm going to bend the clubs down to only 1 degree upright, and take it from there. I sort of have a sneaking suspicion that hitting on a lie board at a pro shop is not a good way to get fitted for lie -- it's probably not an accurate depiction of your true swing unless you swing the same way consistently (i.e., are good) -- for most amateurs I bet we suffer from the well-known practice swing syndrome. (Perfect practice swing, then put ball in front of golfer, and terrible actual swing). A better way would be to follow you for a couple holes, check out your ball flight and divots, and then see what needs to be tweaked.

    • Day 21, May 25.  Hit "the whole bucket" as practice today after reviewing my Skillest lesson.  I think something crept into my swing last week that wasn't in the lesson, so I went back to the lesson and renewed my focus.  Each ball was a minute or so, 2-3 slow rehearsal backswings and checking the mirror for how far back I was going. "The whole bucket" means every ball I have in the bin at my indoor practice room;  I counted when I put them back, that's six dozen plus six total.  That is probably more full swings than I took over the weekend (excluding range warm-ups) in two rounds!  But these were all with a 6-iron.
    • Day 265 5-25 Hit some balls just to see where i was, no "thoughts' except getting arms in front. Did some recording where i focused on getting chest through and arms in front.
    • Day 76 (25 May 26) - Broke out the "vintage" clubs (MacGregor blades, Wilson 4150 laminates) to work with clubs that are much less forgiving.  Worked through the bag using hard foam balls for the full swings, regular balls for the chips and pitches.  Found it to be a more focused session on making consistent contact.
    • Can you elaborate on this?  There's a par-4 hole at the course I've played the most (was my home course for over a decade, now 50 miles away but I still go and play there) whose green is below the fairway and I realized recently it's one of three holes on the course I've never made birdie, despite that I often have a short iron into the green for my second shot.  It isn't even that I haven't made birdie, but I realize I often don't hit the green.  My typical play of the hole is to have a near-GIR and sometimes I get up and down, but not as often as I would if I were trying to 2-putt.
