Is it worth it to get trophy club passes instead of general admission/grounds passes? Just curious what your experiences may have been.

I had clubhouse passes for the 2006 and 2007 PGA championship. I used them each time for weather conditions. It rained at Medinah in 2006 and I proceeded to get heavily bombed at the bar in the clubhouse. LOL. At Southern Hills it was 100 degrees and I used the clubhouse for a cool off spot.

Clubhouse is always a bonus. Back in 1998 I got clubhouse passes for the Players and got to the TPC really early on Thursday. I went into the restaurant and was sitting around enjoying my screwdriver when this guy wearing a baseball cap started up a conversation with me. We shot the bull for about 30 minutes before I realized who it was. Another gentleman then walked in, tapped him on the shoulder and said "Payne, we should start getting ready." I hardly even recognized him without his trademark hat and knickers. I'll always remember my 30 minutes with Payne Stewart that day at the TPC.

Moral: Get the clubhouse passes, you never know who you'll run in to...

I don't think Trophy Club Passes at the US Open will get you clubhouse access. At Oakmont, the Trophy Club allowed you access to a few different tents where they had food for sale.

One of the best tents was the Amercian Express tent. They had limited food and beverages for free for cardholders. Don't leave home without it!

IMO, Trophy Club was not worth it.

* When I reference "tents", I mean TENTS ! These things are USGA owned and operated climate controlled buildings!

Thats pretty cool man. Payne was a real treat to watch so I can only guess what he must have been like conversationally. I guess I'll just go with the clubhouse pass (I'm assuming its synonymous with 'trophy club').

I enjoyed the Amex setup - got a snack, a drink (no charge) and some aircon.

As for the "Trophy Club" setups... never been...but I wonder...

Not sure why there's an airline commercial in your post, but thanks for the input!

So far, it seems like it is worth it to get something a little more than just general admission.

    • Day 313 - I played 18 today. First and last holes were ugly, but I actually played pretty well. Driver was great, irons were alright, and the short game was better than average.
    • Day 205 (23 Nov 24) - Worked with the alignment rod and 7i  in reference to ball position in relation to lead foot on full iron shots, noticed an increase in thinned shots last couple of rounds - better contact with the balls (hard foam) during the drill/swing rehearsals.
    • Have you gone to a fitting? A good fitting will not only give you a clubhead but a shaft, etc. that will suit you.
    • It's not like the Nike Vapor Pro are exactly a highly sought set of irons.
    • Last night I was putting my Nike Vapor Pro Irons back in my bag.  I had my sons i500’s in there the last couple months after we all went to Top Golf .  I picked up the Nike’s this past spring and they are like new.  I feel guilty using them… I have other irons that aren’t valuable that I could use instead.
