Over the winter I had planned on going down to play the TPC.

I just called today and they have the following deal. Starting June 9th, you can stay 2 nights, play 3 rounds, with two of those rounds being at the stadium course. My wife is coming with me, but wont be golfing and it would be $805.00 for this special. Considering it's $375.00 to play SAWGRASS, Im thinking I might do it...

What do you think of this special?
Who here has played it?

I've played it twice.

I marked each of my shots in the yardage book and break it out during the championship every year. Fun to watch Phil dump one into the water on 16 this year and remember that I hit the exact same cruddy shot!

I consider it to be one of those "must play" courses......and that's a pretty good price. Take the time to visit the Golf Hall of Fame in St Augustine while you're there too.

In David's bag....

Driver: Titleist 910 D-3;  9.5* Diamana Kai'li
3-Wood: Titleist 910F;  15* Diamana Kai'li

Irons: Titleist 695cb 5-Pw

Wedges: Scratch 51-11 TNC grind, Vokey SM-5's;  56-14 F grind and 60-11 K grind
Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi S

I came this close to doing that exact special. It definitely looks like an awesome deal, but I decided to go to Orlando instead on a different package. I'd love to know how it goes for you though if you decide to do it!

Over the winter I had planned on going down to play the TPC.

Yes, many years ago (before they bulldozed it a couple of years ago) and it was awesome, the Valley course beside it has it's own little quirks too (like seashell bunkers). Your deal sounds pretty good; you aren't that far from Jacksonville and there's shopping nearby. The hotel is gorgeous and the wife will like the spas. Have a good time.

Good luck Jorruss.

MacGregor 1025's.........you're the man.
Great sticks.
It's a shame what happened to that company.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

Does anyone actually pay $375 for the Stadium Course nowadays? I feel like they run a special every day.

That's not a terrible deal because the hotel is great, but truthfully you might as well skip Dye's Valley. It's really not worth the money they charge because it's part of Sawgrass.

I would rather grab a special at Ponte Vedra and play both courses there (or just double up on the Ocean course), then pay to play a round at the Stadium course. There's also a decent deal at the World Golf Village... you can buy a round at either King and Bear or Slammer and Squire, then go to the other course that day and only pay the cart fee to play. The greens weren't in fantastic shape on K&B; when we were down there, but it was a pleasant course.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

I saw this special and it is fabulous. TPC Sawgrass is a GREAT Track. The price for this package is a good deal. It will be warm bt hey it's worth it. The Valley is very nice too. And the hotel is nice. Sounds like a winner to me. I'd do it but was just down there. I paid plenty more.

    • On the subject of teenagers in professional tournaments there is a kid (Kris Kim) who is a member of my club in England and is at my old school. He’s 16. He’s playing in the pga tour event in Texas this week. Shot 69 yesterday for T31 and is -2 today through 5 holes. T55 and on the cut line. I really hope he makes the cut. Will be awesome.    His dad I believe is a teaching pro and his mum was on the LPGA Tour for a while.
    • I have two contenders here that stick out to me: In second place, a putt to win the hole playing the 16th hole at Burnham and Berrow. Playing foursomes and the green has a big bank at the front then a flat bit and then it goes up again to a back shelf. My partner had hit our second shot onto the back shelf. We were 2up at the time and he was being a little wobbly so we didn’t want to lose the hole. Our oppo were conceded a 4 and my partner told me to just lag it down there nicely. 20 year old me meant to do that and failed. I hit it a bit hard and it was definitely going to clear the tier and probably run off the front of the green, but it hit the hole right in the middle and went in. My partner was very happy we won the hole but quite upset at my ability to follow instructions.    Number 2 is my most memorable. I was about 16 playing in the junior knockout at my club. We get to the 10th hole - long par 4 and index 2. I didn’t hit a very good drive, hit my second up about 60 yards short and pitched on to maybe 25 feet. I started walking and I got this feeling. I knew I was going to hole it. There was no doubt at all. I’ve never felt like that any other time in my life but this one putt was a certainty. It was February and the greens had been recently hollow tined so they were in awful shape. I didn’t even line it up. I hit my putt and it bumped and bounced all over the place until it went in the middle of the hole. If I could bottle up that feeling and sell it I’d be up there with Bezos and musk. Mind blowing!
    • It's strange how ONE person can be THAT much different/better/whatever than anyone else.
    • I saw a YouTube review on a bunch of ball brands and the Maxfli Tour X did very well in comparison. I bought a sleeve and found them to be excellent in feel and distance. But I’m a lousy golfer so nobody probably cares about my opinion. 😃
    • There seems to be a lot of buzz around the new Maxfli Tour and TourS balls, especially with a handful of tour pros signing on to play them. My understanding is that the Tour is similar to the Titleist ProV1 and TourS is like the Titleist AVX. Has anyone played them? My main concern is that while I liked the feel and performance of the Maxfli balls of many years ago, I found the paint job on them was lousy. The finish looked a bit faded right out of the box, and after a few holes they had faded even more, and sometimes the paint was actually coming off. I'm hoping to find out if they are using a different factory or improved their paint process.  Opinions, please.
