Here are a few pics of my indoor hitting bay. I started off by purchasing a golf cage http://www.sportnetting.com/products...kages_169.html The cages on their website have frames that are made of steel tubing, however mine is constructed with pvc pipe which is cheaper and easier to get.

Then I purchased a simulator with video capture http://www.p3proswing.com/ It's the nicest unit that you can buy in this price range (under $1k). The Vector Pro Launch system is $1800 I believe.

I topped things off with a svga projector, sony handicam, 2 microsoft webcams, and a laptop to runeverything.

The software tells you all aspects of your swing including Club Face Angle, Swing Path, Attack Angle, Strike Location/Sweet Spot, Distance, Club Speed, Ball Speed, Swing Tempo, Left or Right of Center, Left or Right of Path, Toe and Heel Height, Penalty

When I'm not busy doing fun things like breaking bones, I spend my winters in the hitting bay. It's been very helpful this year with correcting my swing path and shallowing out my swing plane.

When I was first looking to buy, I saw some setup's in Family Rooms and Living Rooms. Mine is in the garage. Luckily its 5 car so this worked out perfectly for me.

I have seen some setups that also double as a theatre setup.

What does the p3pro use for the impact stuff? how accurate is it? Does it allow you to play actual courses?

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

The p3proswing sells an impact screen as an option, that has 4" on netting around it for $1199. That was too rich for my tastes so I brought the cage that you see in the picture, and made my own impact screen out of shower curtain material; it's cheap, durable, readily available, and makes for a nice display. The software is very accurate and includes an 18 hole championship course called Desert Highlands. The unit is also compatable with Tiger Woods Golf by EA Sports. Several of the packages you can buy include a copy of the game.

Their website said something about reflective tape on the clubs. Is that hard to apply/use on your clubs?

Not really, but I don't have to use it on my irons. I had to tape my Callaway Fusions because the have composite materials on the face that the sensors don't always pick up.

really would like a set up like that just to work on your swing on the cold winter days.

If I hit it right, it's a slice. If I hit it left, it's a hook. If I hit it straight, it's a miracle.

how is it going ? .. Also do you hit right of the system or is it covered. it looks like it would break if taking a full swing with a wedge and hitting down ?

Considering new Woods what you think ?

I've been whacking at it for almost 3 years now and it hasn't broken yet!

    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
    • The last time I played Maxfli balls, Dunlop was still making them. How long ago was that? Mostly, though, I used to play Top Flites (original 336 dimple model) when Spalding was still making them. Now I play the Pro V1x. Last time that I ordered some, Titleist was still making them. Let's see how long that lasts.
    • Once, on a course in Middleton, Massachusetts that I used to love but has since closed down,  I hit the wrong half of a huge, UK style double green.  Then I made the hundred foot putt.  Tough to  forget that one.
    • No. But if I can still play next year, I'll almost certainly be even worse. That's the reality of not being young.🙁
    • I use GPS;  it may not be as accurate, but neither am I.
