I think if you are missing putts that are less than 4 feet it’s all in the head. I’ve never seen anyone not able to make putts of that range purely due to technique, there stroke is fine when they have no pressure, and then their stroke falls apart when under pressure. I had a period where I was having the same problem, I was just pushing at the putt when I felt under pressure and I was missing far too many putts.

I found the drill that has helped me the most was getting 5 balls around a hole (relatively flat) and then putting them all. First off I had an aim of making 20 in a row, and when I got to 18 or 19 I felt a bit of pressure, and if I missed I would do it all again. When I could make 20 every time, I went to 50. It take a fair bit of time to make 50 putts in a row, so by the time you get to 45 you really don’t want to miss and have to start again. I spent 3 hours once, and was going crazy after missing in the high 40’s a few times, but it really helps you get used to putting under pressure, and I never miss short putts now, it’s the best part of my game.

I really think there is no point really working on technique if when you get out on the course you don’t feel 100% confident as the technique will go straight out the window.

Concentrate on making the ball hit the back of the hole. It will keep your putter head accelerating towards the hole.

Don't be tentative. Hit it firmly into the cup.

I think that's good advice. I work on 20 footers a lot, since a lot of my approach shots end up at 20 feet. But now that I think about it, if I can get really good at 3, 4, and 5 footers, it takes a lot of pressure off the 20 footers too. I think I'll change up my practice.
