very soft feel, ok amounts of spin. Major drawback is the cover. After just one shot the cover started to shear off. but yes, they do have an extremely soft feel.

I like these balls and I love the hexagons - very novel but not sure they are any better then the round dimples! The covers are very soft but the balls last a few rounds unless you really get the grooves onto them from your wedges. I find I lose some yards of my irons but the balls will grip the greens and comfortable to putt with.

I'm nearing the end of a dozen I bought in early April. Very soft. I like how they come off my putter. They're hop and stop on the green on pitches. I haven't been able to get one to go backwards yet. I'm willing to bet that the TF Gamer is just as good, but I couldn't bring myself to buy a box of TFs after my experience with them.

Bottom line, I would definitely buy HX Bites again. As it is though, my next golf ball purchase will be TP Blacks. $55 for 2 dozen is cheaper than the $30 for 1 dozen of the HX Bites.

Ben Hogan is my swing coach.

The Hot Bites are great but it is my opinion that they are almost the exact same ball as the Top Flite Gamer with a different dimple pattern but the Gamer is $10 dollars less. Callaway owns Top Flite so it shouldn't surprise. I've played both balls and they are very similar in just about every important category including durability in which they are both pretty poor. But distance, feel, and spin are all great.

They are a decent ball with an OK amount of spin and they are soft off the putter, but the covers dont last.
IMO, thats the price you pay if you want a soft ball that gets a decent amount of spin.

Not sure if they are still on sale, but my local Dick's Sporting Goods had the Callaway HX Tour's going for $29... if you are going to spend $30.. might as we play the better ball.. over the Hot Bite's..

My story is the same as everyone else's. I played the Hot Bites for a while, liked the performance, but hated the durability too much to keep playing with them.

I have the same problem with Pro-V1, Nike Tour, etc. I haven't played a hot bite, but I don't understand this. Given that I have a slower swing speed than touring pros, what would cause this to happen?

Do you shear them with wedges or irons?

Both I think, but primarily irons.

Hm, from what I've heard they aren't too durable, so i don't think it's really a problem with your swing, just good solid contact.

Which is a good thing (solid contact), which is why I don't understand why I tear them up so much. I have Adams irons and wedges, keep the grooves clean but they haven't been modified. I love the feel and spin of a Pro V1, but I can't afford to go through a 4-5 balls a round just because they are ripped to shreds.

Apologies for the temporary the temporary thread-jack. Carry on.

    • Day 1:  I had my first “real” practice today at the driving range.  I hit two buckets of balls utilizing all of my clubs minus the pitching wedge (I haven’t had a lesson on that one yet).
    • like I don't like to think I'm an amazing player as I play off around 7-8 handicap or anything but The one miss I have at the minute is with my strike and its getting really frustrating because I don't see what's causing it please don't say basic stuff like I don't weight shift etc because it wont help here are some videos form certain angles (these aren't that fat in the video maybe slightly chunked but its more the fact that the chunk happens 1 in every 4 iron shots so I'm never consistent) https://imgur.com/epaeE4D https://imgur.com/CKeV0Nm https://imgur.com/lJkliwd https://imgur.com/a/1Z7VwK9
    • You’ve yet to propose anything else. And yet it was, and the rules tell you how to deal with it. Your question has been answered. The Committee can declare them GUR. I disagree with your assessment of common sense. 😀 And yet they didn’t really change this one. Looks like this is about wrapped up? “That Rule is So Unfair!” A Rules Geek’s Generalized Guide to Hot Takes and Overreactions | Rules Geeks I apologize for the length of this post. If I had more time I’d have written a shorter one. – Erik J...
    • When you are penalized for hitting into the sand trap the penalty is having to hit it out of the sand, not out of three inches of water. A sand trap is not the same as a water hazard. A sand trap is not supposed to be under water. It is a unique condition caused  by weather and poor drainage. Most local leagues like ours allow the free drop in this type of situation, as long as there is no area in the bunker to legally drop. This is what I’m talking about, sometimes the official rules of golf don’t align with common sense. That’s why they are finally starting to change them. For example, when wind blows your ball off the green. That was a stupid rule. People being able to call the tv network to say they saw a players ball move. That was a stupid rule. I’m just saying, these are rules made up a long time ago, and it’s time to modernize them.
    • Consider it another way: normally, it's a two-stroke penalty to move your ball out of a bunker (unplayable). The ACC reduces it to just one.
