Why do I hit the ball so high?

Yeah I have the same problem. Tried everything I could find on the internet. All my clubs go too high. I got a 8.5 degree driver and that correct that but my irons still go too high. 7 iron only goes 120 on a good hit. PW goes 70-80, SW 50-70

Nothing has worked so far. I used to hit my 7 iron 140-150 yards years ago when I first started. I had some old blades and swung using only my arms. No wrist cock. Now that I'm trying to swing the more conventional way I've lost distance in my irons. I'm going to get a lesson on Sunday. Maybe that will help since I can't seem to fix it myself.

Here's what I've tried with no success
New irons-switched from os2 to r7 tp
Weight transfer
Make sure hands are ahead of clubhead at impact
More lag-like a figure skater, keep clubhead close to body until last possible moment then whip clubhead through
Hit down on the ball
Drop hands into slot

I'm also in the same spot. I hit every club high, from wedge to driver. I'm aware of it and everyone comments it.
My distances are not that far off others'. When driving, the ball usually lands on the same place, but my partners get some roll, I get virtually none if I don't catch a slope. I've been working on fixing my slice, which I've managed, next up is over the top and scooping. My weight transfer has improved, but still not ideal. It's primarily due to a lack of lag that cause it. Swinging with my arms.

I was at the range today and practicing trajectory. I hit a 4-iron that I swear went 200 feet in the air, though I don't really have a feel for altitude. Only that it was twice as high as any other shot anyone else was hitting at the range, and most clubs generally top out at 100 feet.

When I switched back to hitting lower shots, I realized why the high shot went so high. It started off really low to the ground and climbed like an F-14 almost to the top of the net at the range. That sucker had some serious spin on it.

If you want to hit it low, here are the biggest things to work on:

1. Don't reverse pivot. Try to turn your shoulders flatter. Strangely, your arms tend to do what your shoulders are doing, almost like they are connected. Forget about using your arms to find swing plane. Get your shoulders and hips turning on plane, and the arms will take care of themselves.

2. Don't cup your left wrist. You won't make solid contact if the left wrist is cupped. Try to get the feel that the club is shut on the way back and that it is turning down through impact.

3. Swing easy. Swinging hard adds spin which raises the height. Take an extra club and swing easier. You get a much flatter trajectory. Plus, it's more comfortable to swing easier and you have time to compensate for any other swing flaws, which everyone has.

4. Swing slow from the top. This lets you maintain lag through impact, which delofts the club. If you don't reach a solid, all the way around finish, you are probably swinging quick from the top. Your acceleration has already petered out, which is why it didn't carry your body into a full finish.

This is probably all old news, but everyone needs to hear it again and again and again. At least I know I do

    • There seems to be a lot of buzz around the new Maxfli Tour and TourS balls, especially with a handful of tour pros signing on to play them. My understanding is that the Tour is similar to the Titleist ProV1 and TourS is like the Titleist AVX. Has anyone played them? My main concern is that while I liked the feel and performance of the Maxfli balls of many years ago, I found the paint job on them was lousy. The finish looked a bit faded right out of the box, and after a few holes they had faded even more, and sometimes the paint was actually coming off. I'm hoping to find out if they are using a different factory or improved their paint process.  Opinions, please. 
    • Day 298: range session during lunch. Hit balls for about 20 minutes, focusing on start line and curve. Much better than last night. Then did a stack putting session, which was solid (for me).
    • Day 2 (3 May 24) - Played 18 with the Men’s group today….a fun round in which my elderly neighbor was part of the foursome I was in.  
    • You advertise LIV as "golf but louder" You had DJ's pumping Jock Jams all over the place. You have Bros who are really into golf and TFG shot gunning 26 oz bud lights, while double fisting a 19 oz coors. What type of behavior do you expect?
    • Did LIV pros cross ‘etiquette’ line at Masters? 3-time major winner has thought Did LIV Golf pros cross an “etiquette” line last month at the Masters? Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington has a thought. I do not mind cursing. I rather see some emotion on the course and honest reactions to bad shots or what not. I didn't catch it being a TON of cursing in this Masters. It was not noticeable.
