A little frustrated

I'd just spend some quality time with your new clubs at a driving range. After you get used to them and are hitting them consistently, take notes on the distance you hit each club. Any new set of clubs would cause this problem.

I golfed nine holes today after work and I shot a 46, I basically took a club higher for every hit compared to what I was hitting with my previous set. As for comparing the lofts on the clubs, I could not find the specs on the internet for my original set of clubs but when you put the same club side by side you can tell the difference. Maybe the john daly were lower in loft than your average set of clubs, the slogan on the box said something like grip it and rip it.

Anyways I hit the clubs a lot more solid today and feel like I will adjust fine, I still was not getting the distance back on my irons but I will just have to adjust that part of my game.

The higher ball flight could also be related to a lower center of gravity with the new clubs compared to the old.

I buy my clubs, she slaps a ribbon on it, and were both happy! Good luck though, it's a tough position, you don't want to tick off the wife!

I really think it takes the average golfer quite some time to adjust to a new set of irons. Just keep playing with them, you'll be fine.

I've been happily married for nearly 18 years and I'm certainly no fool. Surely your wife is intelligent enough to understand that it's not disrespectful or an insult to use the equipment that works best for you. If she can't understand that then she must be very young and naive.

Chances are that you are going to experience the same thing with most any other set of clubs. Newer clubs are designed to be more forgiving. As one poster said, the center of gravity of the club could be giving you more loft. Newer clubs are designed to help players get the ball in the air.

Tell her that your clubs were stolen out of your car at the range. Tell her you were so distraught about losing such a special gift that you bought her something to make up for it. Then present the ring. Problem Solved!

You wouldn't be able to buy a very good diamond ring for the selling the clubs I got.
