Ok, so I'm almost out of the balls I've been using all season (Nike Power Distance Super Soft). The ball has been ok but I would like to try something else.

I'm hoping someone that knows what they're talking about can help me make a decent selection.

Here's my game at the moment in a nutshell:

- 15 handicap

- Moderate Swing Speed

- Sometimes fighting the slice

- Looking for a little more length than the Nike ball I've been playing

- Would like more spin around the greens but I don't know how this will effect the occasional slicing problem

- Less than $35 a dozen

So basically something that doesn't feel super soft on the tee but it will check up noticeably on the greens.

I would appreciate suggestions. Thanks!

I would suggest either Bridgestone (e6+ or e7+) or Taylormade (TP Red or TP Black).

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

Top flight gamer most will agree it's the best ball for the price. 20 a dozen.

Personaly my favorites are the nxt tour and nxt extreme. Length and spin are usualy trade offs. Extreme for length and tour for spin.

Honestly though I have got to the point where the balls I play with are cheep cheep cheep because of the economy. Picked up 3 15 packs of slazenger feel for 30 dollars.

Then I put all that money to playing courses and play re nxt' every once in a while.

I love the TP Black, Bridgestone E6+ is also a good ball

I got 3 dozen used pro v1's for $22/dozen on ebay the other day. AAAA quality. The company was knetgolf.com. Balls were in great shape and didn't have to pay the ridiculous price of $48/dozen or whatever they are now.

+1 Try a dozen of each mentioned and a few others.. or get one of their "samplers" like the "distance" or "feel" or "soft", depending on what you are looking to get out of the ball.

I ordered dozens of level 4's (Noodle Long & Soft, e6+, NXT Tours) so far and all seem brand new practically. Have level 3's (TP Blacks) and 2's (ProV's) on the way.. should be here Thursday. I'll post quality vs. the 4's. Best place to go when looking for a new staple ball.

Another vote for the Gamer....though the reduced spin from the tee of the Bridgestone E6+ may offer a better solution and it will check up nicely with irons and wedges.

Buddy and I played the Srixon AD 333 today in a scramble. They are on sale, two 12 packs for $25 so we decided to split the cost. (Dicks/GG)

Very impressed! I like a soft ball for putting and it was the best ball I've ever putted with. I used the ProV1 off the tee and and for approach shots while he used the 333 for everything.

He hit it longer than he usually does, chipped in for eagle, and sank a 30 footer for birdie. I don't know if it was the ball or not, but he did some things he never does. He really liked it.

Obviously the ProV1 is a great ball but for me it's only so-so for putting. Will probably play 9 with the ProV1 on Friday and the other 9 with the 333.

Very nice ball and two packs for $25 makes it even better.

As others have already mentioned, you can't go far wrong with Titleist NXT Tour or the Bridgestone E Series (5,6,7 - you can get fitted to make sure you get the right one for your game).

I've just started using some Nike Vapor and they are quite an impressive bullet also.

If I was in a proshop and just pulled a ball off the shelf for you based on your above comments, I'd go straight for the Bridgestone E6+. That said, I'm a big believer in trying multiple balls and keeping what's right for you. There have been a number of good suggestions already so I'll leave it at that. The E6+ would be a very good starting point though.

I think there may another similar post to answr this question, but isn't the Bridgestone e6+ a non-spinning ball? This would obviously help the OP's occasional slice off the tee, but wouldn't they by default not spin around the greeens?

My impression is that you can't find a ball with less spin off the tee and more spin around the green...

Thoughts? Clarificiations?

NXT Extreme

+1

This is my ball of choice. It hits pretty far and straight for me off the tee, which gives me confidence for the rest of the hole. I'm no low handicapper, but it gives me enough feel around the green and I like the way it feels to strike it with a putter.

I'd buy a dozen each of several that have been suggested from lostgolfballs.com and just try them all out. When you find the one you like the best, order lots.

I would do as frogger suggested; however, (depending on what balls you decide to try out) you could probably buy a set of used balls that are all the same brand, but not all the same ball. For example, I bought a dozen Titleist NXTs from TGW and it happened to come with 2 NXT balls, 5 NXT Tour balls, and 5 NXT Extreme balls, so I've been fortunate enough to try out both the Tour and Extreme without having to buy two dozen. It's just a thought though, as you never really know exactly what the contents of the dozen will be.
