You pick the best and the worst infomercial golf products lets see which wins.

Best- The "Momentus" or the "Heavy Putter". These two seem to make sense both being heavy and ingraining the swing path.

Worst- "The Perfect Club" Put it in your hands and your shots land 10 feet from the whole. Full swing from 100 yards or 250 out they seek pins. The quiet calming music in the background and the deep voice. What a combo... Yeah Right!

We sell the perfect club at our store (Dick's Sporting Goods). Since it's meant for the high handicapper and the weekend duffer who cannot get a ball up in the air with a fairway wood to save there life, the club works pretty well.

Although, I do agree that you're not going to pin seek with it, it is a very forgiving club for the non-serious golfer. Now that there are 4 different models of the club (Perfect Club, Pefect Spoon, Perfect Accuracy and Perfect Driver) All replacing different clubs in the bag, it is possible to put it on the green from 200 yards out and 50 yards out...

Best: Medicus ( but the little suction cup thingy that you stick on the grip end of your putter is a great one too.)

Worst: The dual sided chipper.

Best: Momentus, the ball-marker that magnetically clips to your hat (i hate having stuff in my pockets), and the Scotty Cameron divot repair tool.

Worst: the contraption that finds the "center" of your ball and draws a line on it for you while you hold the marker in place (come on, are any of us are good enough to blame missed putts on a .0001 lopsided ball?), and also I despise iron covers and the little clicky thing you put on your belt to keep your score (can you not count to 9?).

There was a product that came out about ten years ago and I forget the name of it...It was a putter and you could actually rest it behind the ball in order to get the correct line, meaning it would stand up straight for you all on its own. That had to be the worst ive seen. The best---Im not sure, I dont have any training aids.

I think it was called the "Stand Up Putter". We had a guy in our group that used it - he was a terrible putter. We called it the Bat Wing. I agree it was pretty dumb.

Probably didn't work very well on highly sloped greens. Thing would be falling all over the place, moving the ball in the process.

My thoughts, based on almost no experience (I don't go for swing gadgets): Worst: Anything on a DVD. Best: PutterBall. You laugh, but not only does the PutterBall help you cure an ailing putting stroke, but it makes a great weapon should anyone ever try to carjack you. I keep my PutterBall in the back seat.

The "Check Go" I believe it's called. Tried a demo model one day standing in line at Golfsmith. Turned it on, found the "center" and discretely placed a mark on the ball. Spun it up a second time. The mark I had just made was nowhere in sight. Hmmmmm???

Best: Exploding golf ball when executed flawlessly

Worst: Exploding golf balls that look nothing like a real golf ball, thus exposing the brilliant plan to set up the mark...

Well just from infomercials I would have to say best would be the Momentus, Speedstik, Medicus, and the Heavy Putter.

The Momentus works great as a weighted warm-up club and the training grip helps; I am not so sure about ingraining the muscle memory. The Speedstik is great as a stretching tool and swinging it really does seem to help your tempo a bit while helping you increase your shoulder turn and coil. I have only used the Medicus once when my instructor had one and it really does help you begin your back swing properly. And finally the heavy putter seems to work well. Not sure about the science behind it buy once you get used to it speed control it very nice.

Oh, I forgot about the infomercial for the Sky Caddie. I would love one of those. The Perfect clubs are nice, cheap, simple hybrids for high handicappers and they work well enough. They also give people some confidence which certainly can't hurt. And they acually offer 5 models, you missed the Perfect Distance (18*). Well, 6 models, as they now have an oversized 21* Perfect. A friend of my has 4 of them and they are very easy to hit.

The worst: Check-go. It does find true balance of the ball (after rotating on the thing for about 20 seconds) but the only way to draw a nice solid line on the ball is by pressing pretty hard with the marker, which knocks the damn thing off center. I got one because I thought it would be a quick and easy way to mark my ball and draw a putting line. Useless.

Swingsetter. Maybe I didn't fool with it enough, but I just could not get it dialed in for me.

Q-Link. If I was a tour pro with lots of money maybe I would try one. But come on, give me a break.

The Stanceminder. You should take a lesson and use a couple of clubs or old shafts rather then this $90 carpentry slide rule contraption.

F2 wedge. Looks interesting at first but for me it was near impossilbe to get used to the look. Unless you are a frequent shanker you will get nothing from this.

Best product I like or what worked for me is Medicus and the dietary supplement Mind Drive.

I just started taking the Mind Drive product two weeks ago and I dropped about two strokes on average already (78 on Saturday my best :), I initially thought it was BS but the damn thing really works. I'm more consistant now.

Worst product is the check ball and the Q link thing I would have to try it. But I don't see the science behind a piece of metal that can help you.

worst: check n go... I bought this thing at my local TJ max because it was 10 bucks and I was curious... what a piece of crap, you can't make a nice mark on the ball without throwing it off center... maybe the new model will be better

Worst that I have tried was the swing glider. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it....what a hunk of junk.

Best that I have tried is the Swingsetter- It took me a while to get it to work. I was thinking to myself "what a piece of crap". But of course it was me. Once I watched the DVD and got the magnetic balls to click in the right swing areas, I started to see it really helped me with my take away and wrist cock. I have noticed a difference in my consistency and ball striking.

The equipment is there...I'm not!

Best was a weighted swing trainer (knock off of the TV one). The worst was a golf ball labeling kit I received at work from my secret santa. Totally worthless.

Can't really say what the worst is, because I've only bought a couple of things and neither of them really stunk.

Best though, and I can't really explain it, is this Trion Z bracelet that I now refuse to take off. Been hampered with old knee injuries for years, plus a bum rotator cuff that would actually wake me up in my sleep from the pain at times.

Not going to say that these injuries have completely disappeared, but the nagging pain issues have most definitely lessened. The shoulder rarely bothers me anymore, and where my right knee used to painfully lock up if I kept it in one position too long, it now is only an occasional source of mild discomfort.

I even got one for my wife, and she claims her elbow tendinitis has lessened. It's weird.

Really don't wanna sound like an ad, so I'm not suggesting it'll have the same result for everybody. Just passing on personal experience.

"I played like shit." -Greg Norman after the '96 Masters.

    • Day 24: did a stack session. Worked a bit on downswing feels during breaks.
    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
