Scotty Camerons aren't $300 if you know where to look.

I'm not being sarcastic but am looking into getting one. What is a good place to look for Scottys less than $300???

In LA, there are a lot of smaller golf shops. You can definitely haggle with them to get the price down closer to $200. Not sure about Chicago, but its worth a try.

i went from a $25 putter to a $125 putter and was very glad i did it. My putting strokes dropped instantly. I don't think its about finding the most expensive putter but one that fits you best, there wer plenty more expensive putters but none of them seemed to feel as well as the one I picked.

Any places online with lower prices?

you can find great deals on ebay, you can get a good scotty for around 150-200$ for one in good condition.

another tip is go to local garage sales, people sell old camerons for next to nothing. You send it back to Scotty to have it refurbished to new and it will only cost you about 100$

Forgive me, I didn't read the whole thread so I'm sure this has already been mentioned(several times).

The putter is the most important club in the bag, if you're not comfortable with it, you're not going to make putts. If you're not making putts, you can't score well.

As far as I'm concerned the guys spending $300 on a driver are far crazier than the guys spending that much on a putter.

That being said, my putter was $110. It's the most expensive single club in my bag.

This thread has been a success. I picked up an Odyssey White Hot Tour #1. I putted for an hour with different models ranging from $50 to $400. I found that I like Anser-shaped blade putters. It came down to the White Hot #1, a Ping Anser 2, and a used Scotty Cameron Pro Platinum blade putter. I ended up liking the insert feel and went with the Odyssey.

My thoughts on this, are you hit your putter 30-40 times a round, hopefully less than that if your rolling it, but anyway and you hit your driver MAYBE 14 at best, so I'd rather be confident in my putter than my driver.

Thanks again for everyone's guidance. Being excited to use my new putter, I went and played nine with my brother (a beginner) at a par 31 course with a few short par 4s and a lot of ~150 yard par 3s. I putted horribly as I tried to get used to the new putter on real greens. By the last two holes I felt it coming together. All in all, I am excited about it. The feel is a lot more consistent than my crappy Top Flite putter. When I would miss hit a put, I could feel it immediately. Also, I knew immediately if I over hit or under hit the put. I need to go spend some time at the putting green and get used to it.
