Golf partner suggested today that I should try putting moving my shoulders more rather than arms. Said that provides more control in hitting ball straight. Thoughts?

Thoughts on what?

If you mean whether this is better, then yeah. Using your shoulders helps me from getting too wristy.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

I am no great putter but I do agree that putting with the shoulders is the way to go. I used to watch golf before I ever started playing and could see for myself that all the pro's putt this way so I started playing with my arms locked and used shoulder twist only for the putter stroke.

I have noticed that some pro's will incorporate a slight wrist hinge into their putting but I have never tried it. I try to take out as many unnecessary movements as possible in my putts.

shoulders and the putter should feel like it is an extension of your arm and shoulder with no wrist break down. watch Tiger putt. If you pull or push putts watch your eye position over the ball.

Shoulder, I putt left hand low, when I putt the best I really fell like the stroke is in my left shoulder.

Shoulders. It's easier to control your big muscles. You'll have a more consistent stroke once you remove any wrist movement from your putting motion.

I putt cross handed (left low) as well to help keep my hands/wrists/arms out of the putting stroke. Definitely use the shoulder rocking IMO. It works much better when the pressure is on where your small muscles can tighten up.
